19 May 4 Ways to Better Remember Your Physics Concepts
Facing difficulties dealing with Math and Physics? Well, you’re not alone! There are ways to memorise the different formulae better, but there’s no shortcut to it. The concepts cannot be learned over a day, expecting to score good grades. You need to practise consistently when it comes to anything with numbers.
Here are a few tips so that you can remember all the tough formulas:
Step 1 – De-stress first
Before you start learning anything, it is good to de-stress yourself first. Clear your thoughts before embarking on your revision. Allow the pressure of them problem to dissolve. Take a short break to stop yourself from whatever’s distracting you so that you can begin with a fresh mind.
Step 2 – Understand the Formula
Conceptual understanding is a way to work around the concepts. Instead of trying to memorise the formulae, apply it to a real situation.
For example, if you’re learning Newton’s Second Law of Motion which is acceleration = force/mass, try to think of a scenario to apply it. Getting familiarised with the concepts and linking them to scenarios help one learn the formulas at a quicker pace.
Step 3 – Constantly Work on It
When studying with friends, play games with them using the concepts or formula. You can do it alone too. Something simple like making formula sheets and writing them down would help with remembering the formulas better. The more you do, the more you will not forget. If you want to be creative, make the formula into rhymes, stories, songs etc. It will make the formula easier to remember.
Step 4 – Do not Rely on your Formula Sheet
Memorising the formula is not enough if you want it to retain in your head for a long time. You can use them to solve Physics and Math problems multiple times. Repeatedly using them will help you remember better. Try not to depend on your formula sheet, and solve problems using what you know. Don’t forget to check your work too!
