What we did in 2 hours:

In this 2nd lesson on Static Electricity, you have just learnt about the application of electrostatics, the properties of an electric field and how to draw the electric field between charges.

Many of you also did well for Static Test A, congrats to those who got full marks and earned some PMC dollars! Super proud of you guys!

 

What you take home:

You guys can try out this electric field line simulator at home to see how the field lines change when the magnitude of the charges vary. Enjoy!

Special Mention:

We have basically covered all the fundamental concepts of Static Electricity over the past 2 lessons. So next week, get ready for a few tests and quizzes as we challenge your understanding of the concepts. This is a great chance to earn more PMC dollars, let’s hope more of you can win! ?

What we did in 2 hours:

This week, we finish all the 4 techniques of differentiation:

1. Simple
2. Chain Rule
3. Product Rule
4. Quotient

 

We went thru TEST A, understand the common careless mistakes and not to repeat the same mistakes during tests.

 

Did a 30min Test B to assess your problem-solving skills using the 4 techniques and a 4 questions team quiz to deepen your skill set in a fun way.

 

What you take home:

1. Challenging Question in differentiation, these questions will further reinforce the technique that you learn in class and helps to prepare for higher level questions in exams.

What we did in 2 hours:

We mastered how electrolysis works on four different electrolytes (i.e. molten, dilute, concentrated salt solutions & water). We also learnt tricks to solve questions faster without the need to construct equations by being able to predict the products formed just by looking at the ions at each electrode.

 

What you take home:

Electrolysis is a HUGE chapter in Sec 4 and the ‘O’ Level syllabus so do take some time to recap on what we have learnt in our previous lesson, especially the idea of preferential discharge. You should take some time to practice the questions in the Take Home Gems package up till Pg 9.

 

Special Mention:

We will continue our chapter by exploring two more types of electrolytic cells (i.e. use of reactive electrodes & simple cells)
