[S4] Term 1 Week 5 (3-9 Feb) Updates/ Debrief

[S4 Physics PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours:

In the last Static Electricity lesson, all of you were bombarded with a series of tests and quizzes, and I’m glad to announce that most of you passed with flying colours! Congrats to those with full marks and also the 4Q quiz champions!

I hope all of you have truly grasped the concepts of Static Electricity and are “charged up” for your school tests and exams

What you take home:

Attached are the solutions for Test F as promised.

Special Mention:

Next lesson, we’ll be moving onto Current Electricity where it’s all about moving charges. And also, what shocks you if you accidentally touch exposed cables with your bare hands! (Pls don’t try this at home)

[S4 Maths PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours:

We use this skillset to find range of values of  for which a function is increasing or decreasing. This had made students to recall some of the concepts learn in secondary 3: quadratic inequality and discriminant.

We also learn how to use FIRST or SECOND DERIVATIVE TEST to determine the types of stationary points:

  1. Maximum point
  2. Minimum point
  3. Point of Inflexion

What you take home:

  1. Please do the Take Home Questions on Nature of Function page 83-84. The solution to the Take Home Questions : https://tinyurl.com/sws6c7t
  2. Assessment TEST A: compulsory assignment to be handed in the next lesson

 Special Mention:

We will be going thru Test A the NEXT lesson. Please do remember to bring it to class. See you in class!

[S4 Chemistry PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours:

We explored electrolytic cells with reactive electrodes (lose mass only at positive terminal!), how electrolysis is applied to electroplating/ purification of metals and simple cells. We also recapped on the important thought processes to analyse electrolytic cells.

What you take home:

We are nearing the end of the chapter (yay!). With our current understanding of the chapter, you should be able to attempt all remaining questions in the Take Home Gems package.

Special Mention:

We will complete our chapter on electrolysis with a quick-fire quiz next week. We will also consolidate our learning this year with a Topic Mastery Quiz on Speed of Reaction, Energy Changes & Electrolysis. Do start your revision!

WEIGHTED ASSESSMENTS

As the weighed assessment season approaches, we would like to assure you that PMC is here to support you in every step of the way. Feel free to snap us a picture or drop us a message to clarify any doubts (and ask for tips) you may have with your revision and we will get back to you as soon as we can!
