[S4] Lesson 32 (Reflection + Refraction Year End Revision + Differentiation + Electrolysis EOY L2)

[S4 Physics PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours:

On 6th, 8th and 9th Aug, the S4 PH has come together to complete the following:

1) Secret Enclosed – Sound
2) The Final Lap – Sound
3) 4Q Quiz – Sound

As promised, attached, please kindly find the link to the worked solution of Q6 and 7 of the Final Lap Sound.

Kindly note that this link will expire on 15th Sept 2020

Three things to remember:
1. The key words used to explain how sound is produced and transmitted through a medium.
2. How pitch and loudness are related to the wave properties.
3. Use of ultrasound and calculation of speed of sound using echo.

Do remember to always bring your Secret Enclosed AND the revision book for all lessons.

What you take home:

In this coming week (Aug 15 and 16), we will begin our revision on Light I – Reflection and Refraction.

Special Mention:

Should you need assistance in your daily practices in Physics, do send your attempted workings and questions to 9100 1235. We will strive to clarify your doubts.

Do remember to attend the ONLINE lesson this Tuesday (11 Aug 2020) 4 to 9 pm with Mr Shane Wong. He will be sharing the PMC way of solving Data Based Questions!!

What we did in 2 hours:

We will kick start our Differentiation Revision with the 4 techniques of differentiation and went on to recap on the differentiation of trigonometry, exponential and logarithmic function. We also discussed about the different types of function and then describe their behaviour with a few examples. This week tutorial focus on your skill sets to find equation of tangent or normal with a given function and solving questions related to increasing or decreasing function.

What you take home:

The Last Lap – Take Away Questions

 Special Mention:

Next lesson we will continue our Differentiation Revision part 2. See you either in zoom or onsite!

What we did in 2 hours:

We have applied our big idea thinking of electrolysis (i.e. always locate the source of electron and the cathode, the rest will take care of itself) on reactive electrodes and observed an important fact (i.e. only reactive anode dissolves and replenishes cations), applying them effectively on different scenarios.

What you take home:

You are now able to complete the whole Take Home Package in preparation for our final revision lesson on electrolysis in simple cells.

Special Mention:

We will be continuing our revision on electrolysis with reactive electrodes as well as simple cells! Here’s a quick video on the simple cell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wLJLm0QLpg
