[S3] Lesson 37 : Mechanics Lesson 2 + (AM) Secret Enclosed – Graphs (Modulus, Log, Expo, Parabola) EOY – Periodic Table & Redox Updates/Debrief

[S3 Physics PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours:

On 10, 12 and 13 Sept, the S3 PH has come together to complete the following:

1) Secret Enclosed – Turning Effect of Forces and WEP

2) The Final Lap – Moments

3) The Final Lap – WEP

Do remember:

  1. the 4 steps to solving Rotational Equilibrium Questions
  2. the 6 terms equation to solving Work and Energy scenarios

What we received:

In this coming week (Sep 17, 19 and 20 Sept), we will continue our revision through Mock Exam Paper Discussions.

Do remember to always bring your Secret Enclosed AND the revision books for all lessons.

Do bring along your calculator for the lesson.

Oh, do remember to spend some time to watch the Additional Lesson 2 video (if you have missed the live zoom on Tuesday).

If you have yet to collect the new book, please collect them by this coming weekend!

What we did in 2 hours:

This week, we covered on Graph Sketching. We have seen various question types in the chapter, ranging from quadratic functions to trigonometric functions and its applications.

Generally, we recapped the sketching techniques of the following functions:

1)      Quadratic Functions

               a. Intercepts and turning point.

2)      Exponential Functions

               a. Intercepts and horizontal asymptote

3)      Logarithmic Functions

               a. Intercepts and vertical asymptote

4)      Power Functions

               a. y=axb, where b is a rational number

               b. y2=ax

5)      Trigonometric Functions

               a. Period

               b. Equilibrium lines

               c. Determine a, b, and c.

What You Received:

Please try some of the takeaway revision papers set A, B or C (Page 125 to 154). Solutions are already provided for checking.

By now, you should be ready (or almost ready) for your EOY exam. If you still have doubts in any chapter, feel free to ask before/after class or via whatsapp 9005 1733 (PMC Student Services – Academic).

Special Mention:

In the next lesson, we will be doing Mock Papers to prepare for EOY.

What we did in 2 hours:

We have completed our revision on Periodic Table & Redox. We learnt tips to generalise reactivity of metals and non metals in other Groups using what we know of Grp I and Grp VII elements. You are now also capable of observing accurately particular elements in a chemical equation and their oxidation states that will allow you to determine if a chemical reaction is a redox reaction.

What you take home:

You may now complete the Take Home Package on Periodic Table and Redox to consolidate your learning and prepare for your EOY with the top school questions provided.

Special Mention:

We will also be beginning with our revision on Moles & Energy Changes. You may want to recap certain concepts such as limiting reagents, definitions of exothermic/endothermic reactions to prepare for class!

Mr Jacob
