[S1] LESSON 44 : Physics Headstart L3 – Work, Energy, Power Updates/Debrief

[S1 Maths + Science PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours:

Following the two weeks of Maths Headstart, this week we started our Science Headstart on a Physics topic – Work and Energy.

The two types of energy that we learnt are:

1) Kinetic Energy (KE): the energy possessed by an object due to its motion. (KE = 1/2 m v^2)

2) Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE): energy possessed by an object due to its vertical height from the ground. (GPE = mgh)

Work done involves the transformation of energy from one form to another. It is the product of the force applied on an object and the distance travelled by the object in the same distance as the force. (WD = Fd)

In summary, the one important statement that you need to REMEMBER in this lesson:

Work Done = GAIN in KE + GAIN in GPE

Lastly, we had fun with Kahoot! before we ended our heatstart on Work and Energy. 🙂

Special Mention:

Next lesson we will begin our Science Headstart on a Chemistry topic – Ionic Bonding.

See you soon! 🙂

PMC NEW NORMAL

Students can choose to attend any of the timeslots onsite in the respective outlets or live from home at the same timing. There will be both ONSITE and ONLINE audience for all classes. ONSITE and ONLINE students will be able to interact with one another and the tutor will be able to engage both audiences. Both platforms (onsite and online) will be carried out concurrently, ensuring that students in the physical classroom and those attending lessons via Zoom are taught exactly the same content, at the same time, by the same tutor.
