[J2] Term 1 Week 7 (17-23 Feb) Updates/ Debrief

[J2 Physics PMCians] Becoming a Pro in Electricity

What we did in 2 hours:

We reviewed the key techniques to analyse any circuit, especially to use Potential Divider to calculate the p.d. across a resistor in series circuit. As this topic is best learnt by attempting more questions, we are making available to you our Circuits Daily Dose!!

What you take home:

1) Take-away Test 3 in your booklet. Do attempt these questions before you peek at the answers!! The solutions can be found here:

2) To ace this topic, you’ve got to just keep on solving more circuits questions. To help you, we’ve prepared our specially curated question bank for Circuits. Please download the file in the link below:

  1. a) Current of Electricity:

  1. b) Direct Current (DC)

Special Mention:

In the next lesson, we will begin our exploration of Electromagnetism!

Come expectant to learn all about it!

[J2 Maths PMCians] Vectors Revision

What we did in 2 hours:

Our first part of vectors revision focused more on properties and operations of dot and cross products, as well as simple projection. With the warmup on line equations as well, this will put us in good stead for this week’s components!

RI Class: Our two types DE Techniques, direct integration vs variable separable, are completed, and we began on some simple application questions. That’s the start of our DE journey, we’ll be moving on with more!

What you take home:

Our compact resource for vectors should hopefully become the foundation upon which you secure this component of H2 math. Use it in your practices! Also, the worked solutions for the DE take home quiz has been added to the link.

RI Class:The worked solutions for Try It questions in applications of integration have been added to the link.

Special Mention:

Our 2nd lesson of Vectors will involve full lines and planes operations, do read through the notes and be warmed up!

RI Class: This week’s DE lesson will be intense, come equipped (with food & drinks if needed!)!!

[J2 Chemistry PMCians] Get ready for a world of organic chemistry!

What we did in 2 hours:

[Beauty World/Paya Lebar] We have focused on the reactions of alcohols and phenols. Specifically, we looked at

  1. Esterification and its key features
  2. Chemistry of phenols and its reactions

[Bishan] We have completed Acid Base Equilibrium and began Halogen Derivatives. Specifically, we looked at

  1. Indicators in Acid Base Titrations
  2. 4 main reactions of halogenoalkanes

What you take home:

[Beauty World/Paya Lebar] The solutions to the additional structured questions, and “Everything you need to know” series for Hydroxyl Compounds are found here:

[Bishan] The solutions to the structured questions in Acid Base Equilibrium is found here:

Special Mention:

[Beauty World/Paya Lebar] We will complete Acidity of Organic Compounds and start to look at reactions of Carbonyl Compounds.

[Bishan] We will look at the mechanism of Nucleophilic Substitution.

Let’s get inspired to study organic chemistry with the following videos:
