[J2] Term 1 Week 5 (3-9 Feb) Updates/ Debrief

[J2 Physics PMCians] Let’s get Electrified!!

What we did in 2 hours:

This week, we started our 2-part revision on Electric Fields and completed the review of all the concepts you need to know in this chapter. We also discussed popular exam questions which typical students prefer to skip!

In the next lesson, you will get to test how well you know this topic, and we will expose you to various Integrated questions involving electric fields. You can then check how well you stack up against the best of the best!!

Till next time, may you always be at the right place at the right time, safe from the new Novel virus.

[J2 Maths PMCians] Applications of Integration

What we did in 2 hours:

Having finished Applications of Integration, we also began on Differential Equations. Hopefully everyone’s refreshed on our D.E. techniques and ready for the big application questions this week!

*RI Class* All Integration Techniques and Applications have been covered, so in the coming week we can spend quality time engaging the higher order questions expected in the upcoming weeks!

What you take home:

The worked solutions for Applications of Integration Try-It questions are added to the link:

Special Mention:

As mentioned, this week we will be doing pretty heavy DE questions so do come prepared.

[J2 Chemistry PMCians] Looking at Halogenoalkanes / Acid Base Equilibrium

What we did in 2 hours:

This week, you have either covered the main concepts in Halogenoalkanes (RX) or Acid Base Equilibrium.

Under RX, we revised

  1. the four main reactions of RX and 2 reactions of CN
  2. distinguishing test for RX
  3. nucleophilic substitution mechanism (SN1 and SN2)

Under Acid Base Equilibrium, we looked at

  1. Calculations of pH for strong and weak acids/bases
  2. Hydrolysis of salts & its pH calculations
  3. A qualitative look on buffer solutions

What you take home:

This week, you have received the “Everything you need to know” series which is a quick look on the fundamental knowledge and concepts for the chapter. This is to help you recall information quickly so that you can apply these knowledges into Grade A questions. Do try them out at your own time and check your answers through our online portal here:

Special Mention:

Plan for this coming week: For Paya Lebar/ Beauty World classes, we will complete RX and move onto Hydroxyl Compounds. As for the Bishan class, we will look at Titration Curves.
