[J2] Lesson 28 (Quantum Physics Revision + Functions + Organic Chemistry)

[J2 Physics PMCians] Photoelectric Effect – Quantum 1

What we did in 2 hours:

Our 2 hours were spent reviewing the photoelectric effect, the start to Quantum Physics. We showed how light energy is quantised, and not continuous as explained in wave theory. Using Einstein’s photoelectric equation, we showed that you can now view the world in a different manner.

Special Mention:

Next week, we will complete our revision of Quantum Physics!

Till we meet again, stay focussed for the next few months, as you prepare for your prelims and A-levels.

What we did in 2 hours:

We covered functions, recalling all the key concepts and processes, including Inverse, Piecewise, Periodic and Composite functions. These were put into practice in integrated questions which also involved higher order applications.

As a topic with arguably the widest variety of questions, it is important to gain exposure to as many types as we can. Do note how the tougher questions appear to be inscrutable initially, but are always able to be reduced into our basic ideas for an easier approach. Build up some confidence too, especially with the A levels questions which are more manageable.

What you take home:

Worked solutions for the remaining questions and Take-Away solutions are linked here.

Special Mention:

We will be wrapping up pure math revision this week with some Inequalities, and consolidation of Graphing, Functions and Equations.

What we did in 2 hours:

We have completed revision on the final few reaction mechanisms, namely nucleophilic substitution (unimolecular and bimolecular) as well as nucleophilic addition. Additionally, we have practised recognising reaction types.

What you take home:

The solutions to Organic Synthesis and Novel Reactions Q1 and Q2 are found here:

Novel Reactions: https://tinyurl.com/y7hz36bz

Special Mention:

Next lesson, let us delve into novel reactions, where we develop the skill of pattern recognition. Drawing new mechanisms will be emphasized too!

See you!
