[J1] Lesson 22 (1 – 7 June) Updates/ Debrief

[J1 Physics PMCians] The Wonders of Geostationary Satellites!!

What we did in 2 hours:

This week, we studied the useful application of the ideas of gravitation in understanding how satellites work!  By showing the gravitational force provides the centripetal force for a satellite to move in orbit, we now understand how Geostationary Satellites work, and the conditions necessary for it to be one.

What you take home:

1) Gravitation Daily Dose

For your personal revision. The answers and working are at the back:

2) Gravitation Test B – 4Q (for reference only)

Special Mention:

In our next LIVE tutorial, we will begin our Revision Program for your upcoming Common Test.

Gentle reminder that there will be NO Lecture Webcast for this week.

Till we meet again, enjoy the opening of school and stay safe! 🙂

What we did in 2 hours:

Applications of Differentiation: Our final part to conclude Applications of Differentiation involves sketching the gradient graph, f”(x). Do note the process to be used and make it a familiar one!

Also, we cleared our revision on Inequalities. This included graphical and analytical methods, and the common question flow where a replacement happened next. Do try the Grade-A questions!

Additional Lesson 2: Differentiation

Good job finishing our Additional Lessons Revision! In this differentiation lesson, we reviewed all the techniques, as well as processes, of the chapter. We applied Tangents & Normals, Maxima & Minima as well as Connected Rates of Change to a wide variety of questions, with parts modelled after popular recent questions types.

What you take home:

Inequalities Revision: Daily Dose and Try-It questions worked solutions are linked here:

Differentiation Additional Lesson: Graphing questions and Take-Away worked solutions:

Special Mention:

This coming week, we will do our revision on Functions. This is a tricky topic, so do warm up a bit, especially for Composite Functions. (In particular, how do you get the range of a composite function?) Also, as school resumes, do update your tutors on your school’s scheme of work.

[J1 Chemistry PMCians] Time to consolidate!

What we did in 2 hours:

This week, we begin our revision for the June Common Test. We start off with the first two chapters – Stoichiometry and Redox Reactions. Do try the Test Yourself under time limit to simulate exam conditions. Do not forget the Take Home Questions you have received earlier in the term for additional practice!

What you take home:

The solutions to back titration Q15 and Test Yourself are found in the link below:

Special Mention:

Next lesson, let us review Atomic Structure.

See you in class!
