[S3] Lesson 23 : Pressure L1 + (AM) Linear Law + MYE Revision L3 Updates/Debrief

[S3 Physics PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours (PMC LIVE):

Over the live tutorial sessions (June 4, 6 and 7, 2020), we came together to complete ‘Pressure Lesson 1’.

Always remember:

     1. P = F/A and P = hpg;

     2. to solve barometer question, always set a P(1) = P(2)

What we received:

In this coming week (June 11, 13 and 14, 2020), we will come together to finish up “Pressure” through discussions and fun games.

Special Mention:

Should you have any questions while revising your Physics work, feel free to drop your them (together with your attempted workings) to 9100 1235 (PMC HQ).

What we did in 2 hours (PMC LIVE):

This week, we talked about how we can linearize a “complicated” equation into a “nice” equation. Graphically, we estimated a curve into a straight line which is easier to interpret. We tried drawing a best-fit line to meet all the points, however, some points are meant to be a bit off. This is why everybody may have some variations of the unknown constants and b.

What You Received:

Please try the Takeaway Questions on page 182 to 184 before checking the solutions.

Please click the link here for the solutions to the sections below:

  • Solutions toTakeaway Questions (Linear Law)
  • Extra practice, Questions/Solutions toDaily Dose (Linear Law)

Special Mention:

In our next lesson, we will go into the chapter, Trigonometry. (Again…? TOA CAH SOH?)

That’s one part of trigonometry we are familiar in our lower sec, ratio of lengths of a right-angled triangle. We will learn some trigonometric rules and apply them on non-right angled triangles.

What we did in 2 hours (PMC LIVE):

We kickstarted MYE Set B where we practiced time management skills and acquired more MCQ techniques to answer questions smart and efficiently (i.e. ionic equations: non aqueous ionic substances do not dissociate!). We hope you are now more confident with the concepts covered in the first half of the year.

What you received:

We note that many of you may be having exams when school reopens and would like to assure you that PMC is with you every step of the way. Text us any questions during your revision any time and have them clarified.

Special Mention:

We will embark on the topic on oxidation and reduction soon! Here’s an infographic on oxidation states:

Stay healthy, stay safe, see you this weekend!

Mr Jacob
