[S4] Lesson 35 (Static Electricity Year End Revision + Integration Part 2 + Chemical Kinetics EOY L2)

[S4 Physics PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours:

On 29 and 30 Aug, the S4 PH has come together to complete the following:

1) Secret Enclosed – Static Electricity

2) The Final Lap – Static Electricity

Do remember:

   1. Conductors can only be charged through induction whereas for Insulators by Frictional Method.

   2. For Insulators, the object that gained the electrons during rubbing is of the HIGHER electron affinity.

   3. For Conductors, the charges will experience CHARGE SEPARATION and CHARGE REDISTRIBUTION to reduce net charge effect.

Solution:

The Takeaway Questions of our Static Final Lap are already available in the S4PH Shared Folder (and the link was made available to you in the earlier email, do remember to bookmark that link).

What you take home:

In this coming week (Sept 5 and 6), we will begin the revision for the MOST anticipated chapter – Electricity and DC Circuit.

Do remember to always bring your Secret Enclosed AND the revision books for all lessons.

Special Mention:

Should you need assistance in your daily practices in Physics, do send your attempted workings and questions to 9100 1235. We will strive to clarify your doubts.

What we did in 2 hours:

This week, we continued on integration revision.

We recapped on the different cases for area under graph. The area under a curve between two points is found out by doing a definite integral between the two points to a chosen axis. We also discussed how to find area bounded by a curve and line using either geometry method or subtracting area under lower function from area under upper function.

Next, we move on to kinematic problem solving. By interpreting all important key words given, together with our knowledge on the relations between displacement, velocity and acceleration, we can easily solve any kinematic questions.

 Special Mention:

Next lesson, we will testing you on integration and its application, do revise before lesson. If you have not collected our book 5, you may attend the lesson onsite this week to collect the book at the same time. See you either in zoom or onsite!

What we did in 2 hours:

We have ended our revision on Energy Changes. You are now equipped with efficient calculation techniques to obtain energy released per gram of fuel and the three points of debate on advantages and disadvantages of a fuel (i.e. clean/energy efficient/ease of storage).

What you take home:

You should begin attempting the take home questions on Energy Changes and bring questions to clarify in class, if any!

Special Mention:

We will be kickstarting our revision on Speed of Reaction, examining the factors influencing speed of reaction and the idea of effective collision. Here’s a quick infographic:
