[S4] Term 2 Week 4 (13-19 Apr) Updates/ Debrief

[S4 Physics PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours:

We completed the MYE Set B Paper 1 discussion.

The enthusiasm and willingness to ask knowledge-building questions were still seen during each session and the tutors were very heartened to know that you remain motivated to excel for S3 topics. Let’s continually maintain this positive learning spirit and feel free to ask questions

Besides going through the paper 1, we have completed a LIVE structured challenge where many of you have managed to earn some points through answering the challenging questions and active discussions through the Group Chat.

We ended off our LIVE tutorial by breaking into different rooms to compete and complete the usual 4Q team challenge.

What you take home:

Before the respective LIVE tutorial sessions begin this coming weekend (25th and 26th April), we would like to invite all of you to complete the online webcast lecture on COE/DC Revision Lesson 1. COE/DC has proven to be highly weighted topic in all examinations (i.e.: approximately 15 %). This means if you are keen to achieving an A1 or A2 for Physics, this topic could be a deciding factor. On top of that, if you are pursing the A level path, you might want to know the teachers will expect you to know your basics (i.e.: formulas and definitions) really well!

Research has shown if a student could master COE/DC really well, he or she will fall in love with Physics even more. Shall we try to love Physics even more?

Special Mention:

Though we may not have our usual face-to-face sessions where you could stay back to ask your tutor questions or share a thought, we are always with you and we will render our full support to your learning in Physics. So, if you have any question(s) to ask, feel free to send them to 9100 1235.

Meanwhile, stay safe, stay home and, of course, stay awesome!!!

Always with you for your Physics Learning,

The S4PH team (Mr Wong, Dr Li and Mr Gary)

What we did in 2 hours:

During this week live tutorials, we covered Exponential and Logarithmic Function revision.

We recapped the different laws and properties on these function and discussed how to solve different type of questions relating to the two functions. We ended off with a 10 Questions Chat Challenge to see who is the fastest to answer each question. Kudos to all who won!

What you take home:

We are currently doing revision, please do S4MA MYE SET A PAPER 2 on your booklet page 64 -68

Please attempt all the question before checking the solution link below:

 Special Mention:

Coming week, we will dived into Coordinate Geometry, try to do some revision before attending our Live tutorial. Meanwhile, stay home and be safe.

[S4 Chemistry PMCians]

What we did in 2 hours:

We completed our chapter on alcohols & carboxylic acids and did an extensive mind-map covering all the reactions we have learnt thus far. We also kickstarted our learning on macromolecules and learnt how small organic compounds can aggregate to form useful materials such as plastic bag and t-shirts.

What you take home:

Do take some effort to consolidate your learning on organic chemistry, which is a huge chapter. You may draw, on your free time, mind-maps to summarise the reaction conditions and products of various organic reactions.

Special Mention:

Here’s a video showing how plastics (polyethene) are made industrially: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp2RDu9fw6o

Stay safe, stay healthy, see you this weekend!

Regards,

Mr Jacob
