SEE WHY WE’RE SINGAPORE’S BEST TEAM FOR JC PHYSICS AND MATHS TUITION

Our intention is to make you feel smart in class and keep this feeling with you for the rest of your life. You will never believe something so difficult can be so simple. There are two other ways to find out more. Firstly , read the students’ testimonials. They are genuine as they are linked to the Facebook account of the students. Secondly , our fees are not cheap. But we have the largest intake of Physics and Math IP and JC students in Singapore.

Miss Toh, I will always remember your puzzled face when I don’t do your homework. alwayz make me feel guilty.. :p your quiz was a little stressing initially but can be quite exciting too! your explanations are clear and to the point. I like it and I am sure many students do as well. Thank you Miss Toh!! Won’t have gone to JC without your encouragement and teaching.

If there are any words to describe Miss Toh, I think it will be gentle and smart. I can remember vividly how she whipped out her pen and a blank piece of paper to give me an overview of a chapter which I have missed cos I joined her class later. She clarified my doubts in mere 30mins. A monstrous chapter miracously turned into something so intuitive and easy. I guess this was one of the first few personal encounter with Miss Toh that strikes me with that impression. No wonder people says first impression counts. Haha.. ok, overall, Miss Toh is the best math tutor I have so far.. which explains why I have sticked to her until my big Os… Thank you Miss Toh… Keep in touch k?

Vivian , ~SECONDARY

Thank you Miss Toh. I didn’t know I can do well for Math before you came to teach us. I enjoy your lessons because it is always very casual and we feel at ease to say or ask anything. Your overview of each topic helped the us understand the topic easily. Although we are always noisy and lethagic in the 3pm lesson, you are always understanding and patient with us. Thank you for teaching our class. 🙂

I have done pretty well for Maths this term and I am proud of it. At first, I have no confidence in Maths as I know that I am lazy but Miss Toh and my peers gave me lots of encouragement to work harder. I would like to give thanks to Miss Toh for her her moral support and lessons. I really appreciate Miss Toh’s lesson. Thank you cher!! I will continue to work hard <3

Miss Toh,
Thanks for all the guidance and help that you have given me these past 3 months. It was with your help that I managed to improve tremendously, and score a B for maths! Something which I have never achieved ever since in upper secondary. You are a kind and caring teacher, and you never fail to help me in any way possible. Hopefully I can score a B3 or perhaps an A to make you proud! I hope I won’t let you down. : )

I joined Miss Toh after my sec 3 exam… I failed badly and needed to sit for a provisional exam to continue taking a maths. With 4 one-to-one lessons, miss toh gave me a quick crash course. She showed me all possible questions in each topic nd caught all my bad habits… She made it sounds so simple that i cannot believe it!!! I was very happy when i pass the paper and regained confidence in a maths. Ever since then, I began to excel in maths… finally, got A for a maths in O level. Thank you miss toh for all your help! All the best..

Miss Toh is a kind and patient teacher who has helped me alot as my GCE O LVLS are approaching. I am very poor in maths when i first joined but she is always willing to go in depth of that particular subject topic. Her explanations are clear and easy to understand. Her good temper is something I think is very important because it enable me to have lessons that are stress-free. The summary sheet that she gave us, helped me a lot. I can absorb alot of concepts from there in a glance 🙂 Thank you Miss Toh, you really helped me a lot!

Marcus Lim , ~SECONDARY

Miss Toh has a good knowledge of variety of exam questions. The extra lessons and worksheets provided were indeed very useful. Thanks for providing more worksheets in areas where I was weaker in. It was also wonderful that there was such great enthusiasm to help me in any way possible.

Nicole , ~SECONDARY

Maths used to be my greatest problem. Although I can understand the concept, I could never score A in maths until I joined miss toh classes. After going through the major concepts, she will show us the common trick questions in exams. I feel that it is extremely helpful especially for students like me. I feel as though I saw the exam paper before I actually even sit for it. Miss Toh has helped me gain confidence and like maths again. Thank you Miss Toh for your wonderful lessons.

Liang Min Li , ~SECONDARY

Hey Miss Toh! F9 to B3!! I still cannot believe it. Thank you for helping me all this time. Also, thank you for having faith in me. I think you always have it more than I have for myself. Haha. The notes you prepared are formatted very effectively as it’s size allows me to carry it around and revise anywhere. Its content is structured such that it’s easy to understand. Besides that, your encouragement is also something I really appreciate too. By the way, you still owe us our Mac treat!!!

Danial , ~SECONDARY

Miss Toh is able to relate what she teaches to daily life, so it becomes much simpler to grasp the concept. Lessons never end on time but I do not complain as I get to ask questions and clarify some stuff that I am unsure of. She stays back to help me out with whatever extra questions I have or concepts that I am not clear about as I am not a fast learner. She is extremely patient, and tries her best to help every student. Miss Toh’s notes are detailed, which highlights important points. It is concise, brief and yet, hits all the important concepts and fundamentals for all the topics. She has done so much more than what she needs to do. She really helped me gain my interest in Mathematics back, and although my basics were very weak, I managed to finally pass A Maths and score a B3 in E Maths.

Emmanuel Phua , ~SECONDARY

Miss Toh is Truly an amazing math tutor I ever seen!!!! She can explain the same concept in SOOOO many different way until I can understand. She is extremely approachable! It feels like you’re talking to a friend than a teacher! Which made us feel very easy to ask any questions in class! She never scolds or get angry and willing to stay back and spend extra time for me to ask my huge stack of questions. Thank you Miss Toh for helping me get my A! 😀

Kek Shi Jie , ~SECONDARY

Hi Miss Toh, Thank you for your guidance for the past 3 years. You have been the most wonderful teacher I could ever ask for. I couldn’t have gotten my A without you.

Melissa , ~SECONDARY

I was introduced to this tuition center, Maths Cafe by a classmate in the beginning of the year. At that time, My maths was terrible to a point where i scored F9 for all my math tests. After enrolling in Maths Cafe, the teacher, Miss Janelle Toh taught me the basics of mathematics like algebra. As i get better with my foundation, i learnt more new things all thanks to miss toh. My grades improved from F9 to C6 in the prelims, then lastly, to B3 in the GCE O LEVELS. I have enjoyed my classes with miss toh and it was indeed a fun journey. THANKS MISS TOH!

Dalton Wong , ~SECONDARY

The notes that Miss Toh prepare is concise and good. They are my exam-essentials since sec 2. The small booklets make it seems like there is really nothing much to digest. I will always refer to the first page for all the formulas, concepts and useful examples to do my homework. Thank you Miss Toh for nanny-ing me for 3 years. Zheng Hui Min, St Theresa School

Zheng Hui Min , ~SECONDARY

Ms toh is very patient and always try to help you understand things you don’t before she continues with lesson. The topic tests and exam practices nearing the o’s helped SO much(to the extent i can’t explain.) She comes up with interesting and very-easy-to-understand methods to maneuver around problems. The 2 hours of lesson with ms toh every wednesday was probably the best thing i did last year. Thank you ms toh! I owe it to you!! XD

Wu Su Yuan , ~SECONDARY

Miss Toh has her own unique way of making us remember our careless mistakes. She actually gives ‘names’ to the things that she wants us to remember. Honestly, it was kinda funny at first but I soon realized how effective it was. It was like I knew careless mistake like one of my friends. Hahaz.. another thing I like about Miss Toh’s lessons is that she gives us many challenging questions to stretch our tiny brains. ;p these questions really help us feel smart and of course do well in exam. Hee… thank you miss toh! 😀

Joanna Lim , ~SECONDARY

I never thought I needed maths tuition until I was in sec 3. I couldn’t understand a thing in class! I was so frightened and lost at that time that I asked my mum to help me look for a tutor. That was when I first met Miss Toh, I was amazed by how she can compressed what my school taught in a month in just 1 lesson. She highlights the main concepts and go through several examples before giving us the commonly tested exam questions. It was so clear and concise that I felt so relieved that I found her. Without her help, I guess I will still be one of the lost sheep in class. Thank you Miss Toh for taking me in.

Chan Yi Lin , ~SECONDARY

was introduced to Miss Toh’s E Maths class by a friend, at the beginning of June, last year. Before joining her tuition class, I was a D7 to C6 student and I never enjoyed Mathematics. It was always a nightmare. Miss Toh has her very interesting techniques to tackle different questions and problems. This shed light to many sums I could not solve before. Her topic by topic lessons during the beginning were extremely useful and it helped to build a solid foundation which was critical in every aspect.

What’s more, she provided the class with her little graphical formulae chart.. How could I live through my O levels without that?! 😀 I begin to love Mathematics and it wasn’t as bad as it used to be. My grades improved tremendously within just 2 months. (from C5 to B3) During Mid-September, like every teacher, Miss Toh started her ‘Practices papers thrown at you’ campaign. Although tiring, it gave me the practice I desperately needed.

Her passion for teaching and her energetic personality brightens up every room and never fail to put smiles on our faces even after a long and tiring day. She was also very patient and made sure the class understood everything before she moved on to the next question. I would not have done as well as I did for Mathematics if it wasn’t for Miss Toh’s support and guidance and I owe it all to her. I am truly thankful to her and the friend who had introduced me to this tuition class.

Wu Su Yuan , ~SECONDARY

Miss Toh is simply awesome! I started tuition in the middle of sec 3 and managed to catch up by the end of the year. I was able to help my friends when they can’t solve their homework questions. By Sec 4, I was like a maths expert in my class. It was really amazing how I could improve so much in such a short period of time!! Thank you Miss Toh! Cheers,

Jervin Wong , ~SECONDARY

I have been attending Miss Toh’s lessons since sec 2. Without her help, I think I will not be able to do well consistently in Maths. Thank you Miss Toh. All the best with The Maths Cafe.

Pauline Chen , ~SECONDARY

I was averaging around a B grade since sec 3. I was never able to hit the 70 mark. With only 5 months to O level, I decided to seek help from The Maths Cafe. I was recommended to Miss Toh by my friend from another school. Miss Toh’s short cut method and concise summary of all the topics is really useful during my revision. It makes the concepts easier to digest. And it is also extremely helpful when we were doing drilling of the many many challenging exam papers (be it from school or from The Maths Cafe; it was a total madness!!). It saves us the time and effort to search through our notes for the formulas. All in all, I am thankful to have joined Miss Toh’s Maths class before my O level. A big Thank you to you Miss Toh! ^.^

Zhou Rou Ling , ~SECONDARY

Hi Miss Toh, I would like to say THANK YOU for all the help you have rendered to helping me achieving my ALL A1 target in O Levels. :p It was always a joy to attend your class. You make Math so easy to understand and fun to solve all those challenging questions from The Maths Cafe. The small test every week is also very helpful to help us gauge where we stand in major exam. The colorful summary is concise and handy when we do revision. ? Thank you for making this journey so much easier.

Fabiana Low , ~SECONDARY

I was really bad at Maths all the way until sec 2. Only in sec 3 then I decided to seek help and attended Miss Toh’s Maths classes at Marymount. She was patient with me because of my weak foundation. She will explain concepts and my doubts slowly and clearly until I could understand. With only 4 lessons before my Mid Year exam, I managed to PASS my Maths exam for the FIRST TIME in secondary school! From then on, I made steady improvement and got A for my year end exam. Thanks Miss Toh!

Jonathon , ~SECONDARY

Miss Toh, I got 88% for my Mid-Year 😀 Thank you for being such a MARVELLOUS Maths teacher!! 🙂

Loo May Tia , ~SECONDARY

Hi Ms Toh, Ed just told me he scored A2 for SA1. I believe this will definitely increase his confidence as it has been a long time since he got an A for Math. Thanks very much for your efforts and your dedication.

Hi Ms Toh, I would like to thank you for helping Sharmaine so much in her maths. She scored A1 in her recent common test and it’s definitely very encouraging for her as maths is the only subject that she never score A1. She is with you only since March and I can see a big improvement and confidence in her. In fact, she is always looking forward to your class and also thanks for always staying back to answer her questions from her school worksheets. The only regret I have is not knowing you earlier so that she does not need to struggle in this subject.

Mrs Ng, Sharmaine’s Mum , ~SECONDARY

Hello Miss Toh, I got A1 for both math. I really want to thank you for all your guidance. I’ve gained so much confidence in maths ever since joining The Maths Cafe. You always answered my questions patiently until I understand my silly careless mistakes. I think I have learnt so much math concepts from you than over the past 3 years in school. From F9 in sec 3 to A1 in O Levels I think there isn’t much for me to add, the grades speaks for itself. ;p Thank you so much so much!

Evangeline , ~SECONDARY

Miss Toh! I did you proud! I got A1 for E Maths and A2 for A Maths! I never thought it was possible. I really want to thank you for EVERYTHING. No matter how hard I studied last time, I always didn’t manage to score as well as I wanted to. The Maths Cafe questions are tough and prepared me well for my school exams. The colourful summary is concise and extremely handy. What you taught us was not just how to score in Maths, but rather how to study smart. Thank you for all the encouragement, tips and support till the end. I will definitely recommend The Maths Cafe to everyone I know.

Charmian , ~SECONDARY

I would definitely recommend The Maths Cafe to my peers. Miss Toh has really helped me pull up my Additional Mathematics grades from a D7 during the Mid-year exams to an A2 in O Levels. She is willing to put in extra time and effort to make sure you understand everything clearly. The notes are amazing as well and have definitely helped me understand topics better. I would like to take this time to thank Miss Toh for being such an amazing mentor.

Huan Ru Han , ~SECONDARY

The answering techniques taught to us by Ms Toh is very helpful as not only does it help us in during the thought process, but it also makes it easier for us to revise when reviewing our previous work. Having lessons in The Maths Cafe means having more attention from the teacher, which means that it is a lot easier for you to approach the tutor, Ms Toh, to clarify any doubts you may have. Also, Ms Toh is by far one of the best mathematics teachers I have ever had as she is able to explain clearly the concept being taught/the thought process in solving the question at hand and as such, I would definitely recommend my friends to join The Maths Cafe. (:

Ng Yi Ching , ~SECONDARY

Miss Toh! your notes are really helpful as they are short but to the point! (makes maths seem less dry!) and the way you explain the methods and how to present our answers is super clear and easy to remember 😀 like when learning how to do differentiation and integration especially, you taught us in ‘english’ instead of in ‘maths’ and i think that really helped me to understand betteras compared to when my school teacher taught! i think The Maths Cafe really helped me a lot in acheiving my goal for both maths and i will definitely recommend my juniors to join your class! thank you Miss Toh for all the help and support and worksheets to do! 😀

Charmaine , ~SECONDARY

Thanks Ms Toh for all you have given me!! I rly appreciate all your efforts and i hope u can continue moulding students into what they desire. Before attending the classes, I constantly flunk my physics examinations ever since sec 3. At physics cafe, they presented comprehensive notes to us and also rigorous practice on physics questions. Although b3 is not really an amazing score, it is still a huge improvement and i would like to thank Ms Janelle Toh for her efforts.

Physics cafe’s unique secrets enclosed has greatly benefitted me as it has summarized all the key concepts all within a small booklet. This has made revision so much easier and enjoyable! Lessons in physics cafe are much clearer than those in school. I was able to understand concepts in an extremely short time which i previously didnt with the explanation of Mr kwok. I was also able to ask questions after class and he would patiently answer me to clear all my doubts. This led to my results improving from C6 to A1! And im incredibly thankful for such a great tutor like mrkwok! Im confident that with all the help provided by physics cafe, my friends and i will definitely achieve our desired grades and reach our desired JCs. I have recommended and will continue to recommend people around me( my juniors or friends) to join physics cafe , for it is really a fantastic tuition centre:)

Tan Yan Zhi , ~SECONDARY

Physics tuition at The Physics Cafe is the best! I will definitely recommend my friends as The Physics Cafe gave me a clear explanation of details that might seem incomprehensible and difficult to understand. I hope to meet the excellent teachers of The Physics Cafe in JC 🙂

Kim Su Min , ~SECONDARY

Before seeking the help of The Physics Cafe I really thought that a distinction for Physics Levelis impossible. But through the many lessons I find myself understanding a lot more concepts that I couldn’t understand before. So I will definitely recommend my friends and even juniors to join The Physics Cafe if they need help.

I feel that The Physics Cafe a very good course to go to but I think I joined a little too late. Nevertheless, I’m blessed to jump from an F9 to a B3 within 2 terms 🙂

Hello Ms Toh !! You’ve been a great physics + math teacher during the past 2 years when I was in The Physics Café! I started off with below average grades for my math and I’m Glad to have you as my teacher for I have improved so much ! Thankyou for being such a patient and dedicated teacher ?? You are amazing (very pretty, kind and smart) and I will never forget you !! 🙂 Hi! Mr Wong ! Thank you for being such a great teacher , teaching me in sec 3 and towards the end of Sec 4:-) Don’t worry about us forgetting you because we won’t ?????? I will never forget your lame jokes because it’s so lame its stuck in my memory forever!
Anyway, physics lesson would never be the same without you:-) thankyou so much for your guidance and WE LOVE YOU! Dear PMC, I will definitely recommend my friends to join the physics cafe !! The notes are extremely useful because they are small and easy for a quick overview of the topics! Especially the thick booklet before the major exam where the explanation and key points for every topic is in there! This makes it really convenient for us to do a last minute check (right before the actual exam)!! Since its small, it can also be carried around easily 🙂 i feel the revision tests are THE BEST!! Before O-levels I actually redo the questions for every test and it really helped to refresh mymemory on the different type of questions (since o’s has so many topics cfm forget :0) Anyway, I used the notes really really well and I really liked the way it was formatted !! YOOHOOHOOO!!!!

Mr Shane Wong engages his students very well. His charismatic nature and great knowledge in the subject matter makes him a good tutor. His lessons are relaxed, fun and interesting. Hence, lessons were not so much of a chore but more of a weekly stress reliever. Additionally, we still get to learn more Physics knowledge.

The Physics Secrets Enclosed has been a really good summary of everything that I need to know. It covers all the main points and concepts of each topic. I think that the difference between this Physics Maths tuition centre and the others is that they spend about half of the time explaining the important concepts to ensure that we understand them fully. If we do not even know how to apply the things that we learnt, there would be no point in doing the questions. Going through the topics thoroughly has helped make me understand what I am doing in each questions and has no doubt helped me improve my physics grades. Thank you.

Ryan Ho , ~SECONDARY

The Secrets Enclosed is very useful, especially since it has a summary of every topic. This makes studying a lot easier. I personally enjoy lessons in The Physics Cafe as lessons are really enriching and interesting! Mr Wong is really lame (in a good way) and funny hahaha. The Physics Cafe helped me a lot, especially for structured questions. The Physics Cafe goes through the answers for structured questions in point form which makes it a lot easier for revision! My peers in The Physics Cafe are hardworking and this serves as positive influence since they motivate me to work harder 🙂 I have confidence that we will all do well this year! Especially since we have such dedicated and inspiring teachers who are willing to stay late after class just to help us clarify our doubts. As i have benefitted much from the lessons at The Physics Cafe, like my seniors did. Similarly, i would recommend my juniors to join The Physics Cafe too! Thank you for the past 2 years of guidance, I have benefited a lot and my grades have definitely improved, from a c6 in sec 2 to a distinction now!! THANKYOU SO MUCH!! <3

In Secondary 3, Physics was a chore and a mess of concepts which I couldn’t differentiate and understand. After failing, I proceeded to the November crash course in hope to start understanding some concepts. It was so enlightening I decided to join the Secondary 4 class this year! Attending Physics Cafe provided me a fundamental knowledge of the concepts I need to know in the S4 topics. Physics Cafe helped me to be more confident in Physics and motivated to study for Physics so yay! Thank you Mr Shane and Physics Cafe! :))

Bernice Lim Si Min , ~SECONDARY

I really like the Secrets Enclosed booklet as it has helped me a lot in my revision. Lessons in The Physics Cafe are really enjoyable and our teacher never fails to point out all the little details that we may miss out. There is a stark difference between my peers in the Physics Cafe and my friends in school as they have a better grasp of the concepts and they are more confident as well. I think my friends and will do well this year as we have one of the best physics teachers 🙂 i will definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe as it has helped me improve a lot. Thank you!

Goh Xuan Ying Alicia , ~SECONDARY

Secrets Enclosed provided me with a lot of help and tips on how to answer questions
Mr Kwok has helped me a lot by fixing a lot of my concepts and foundation in physics (especially for electricity)
Through the lessons, i’ve also been exposed to many different types of questions and learnt how to tackle them

Quah Wen Chyi , ~SECONDARY

The secrets enclosed is a good summary of the whole physics textbook as it is small and very detailed. I will not have to carry around my big physics textbook anymore. Yay!The lessons in Physics cafe are easier to understand compared to the ones in my school. The lessons are also much more engaging and entertaining. I think my peers in Physics cafe are much more smarter and confident compared to my peers in school and most of them will do very well for our O levels.I would recommend my friends who are weak in physics to join the physics cafe as even I was very bad at physics and failing but now I am doing way better.

Nikhil TarunSanghavi , ~SECONDARY

Hello Ms J!!! Firstly, I would like to say thank you for all the effort you have put in to teach us. When I went into Physics Café last June ( I think? ), I was really worried that I could not catch up for I have heard that this was a really good tuition centre and had many able pupils. Thank god I can lol :p My Physics was really, really bad when I first entered. I had absolutely no clue about topics such as Dynamics and what I did mostly was to randomly apply formulas T^T . I am really grateful for the clear, concise way that you guys teach that make Physics logical. Soon after I had first joined, I had joined The Maths Café as I had kind of failed my Additional Maths paper last year o.o My maths improved a lot too. Answering the questions well, I think that the Secrets Enclosed is a short and sweet booklet that has allowed me to understand the topic and its concepts better. It is a good summary. I guess it could be larger though, its sometimes hard to squeeze the notes we took down in class. The biggest difference would probably be the fact the concepts are taught in a clear manner. The lessons are always organised and planned well, and this actually boosts the student’s faith in the tuition centre. It makes us confident and sure, making us believe in the ability of the tuition centre to successfully tutor us. The atmosphere in the Physics Café is really good. Sometimes in other centres, I feel that the surrounding students do not take the lesson very seriously and make quite a bit of noise. Here, one would be shy to not pay attention during the class due to the studious atmosphere of the lessons. Nonetheless, it is not a bad thing and is encouraging and never restraining. The competency of the students here to excel is also motivating. The teachers are also very committed and are open to questions. They are easy to approach and which encourage me to clarify my doubts. I feel that the patience of the teachers in the Physics Café are outstanding and they will continue to tutor you, no matter how bad of a situation you might be. In all, thank you Miss Toh and the other teachers for putting in so much effort! All of your efforts make a big difference to each and every student. In my opinion, teaching is quite a tough thing to do and hence I have great respect for all the teachers here, on how they are so motivated to teach every week. As for the last guiding question, yep I do. Additionally, next year, you will receive another member of my family as a student 😀 ~
P.S: I went into the Physics Café because my Physics was my worst science and my Additional Mathematics was failing. This preliminary exam, I got the highest for both subjects in my school!! Thank you Miss Toh and the Physics Café!

Crystal Tan Hui Yan , ~SECONDARY

I’m grateful to have been able to come to this tuition centre. While my physics results for prelims have not met my expectations, I believe I can improve my grade by the time I sit for my O levels exam. Attending The Physics Cafe has helped make certain concepts clearer for me and I’ve seen an improvement in my understanding of the subject.

Simren Kaur , ~SECONDARY

Dear Mr Kwok, Thank you for being extremely patient and clearing all our doubts before class and even during class. I really appreciate the extra help that has been provided and hopefully with all the guidance I have received I will be able to ace my Os. Thank you for clearing doubts that my teacher in school was unable to.
Thank you for your time.

Resvin Kaur , ~SECONDARY

Even though I joined The Maths Cafe halfway through the year, I have learnt many tips and formulas to apply during my maths paper. Now, I enjoy practicing math because I understand what the question is asking and how to apply whatever formulas I have learnt. Secrets Enclosed is a very useful guide to revision and has allowed me to recap on the different topics and brush up on my weaker ones. My peers in The Maths Cafe definitely have a better understanding of concepts and certainly have seem to be doing well in maths. The Maths Cafe has definitely allowed me to do well in both A.Maths and E.Maths and I would definitely recommend my friends to join this class 🙂

Matilda Woo , ~SECONDARY

I really don’t regret signing up for tuition here because the lessons are very effective! They are well planned and targeted, in the sense that each lesson sets out to cover a specific part of a topic, which I think is good because it helps me link what I’ve learnt with the chapters. I like how the tutors try to organise the question types for each of the chapters and the approach for each question type (especially for math). It makes it easier to identify the right approach to get started on the questions. I’m taught by Ms Toh and she’s very good at explaining the concepts for both math and physics 🙂 She helped me to better understand the subjects and clear a lot of my doubts. I think she also makes lessons more enjoyable because of the random jokes she makes from time to time! With regard to the centre itself, I like the environment because it’s quite a casual setting, there’s food, and it doesn’t make me feel overly stressed out about studies 🙂 I also like the flexibility that the centre offers because I can attend any time slot without making prior arrangements, and the digital lessons are also great to catch up on lessons I’ve missed. Overall, I’d recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe 🙂

Cherie Ko , ~SECONDARY

Before I joined The Physics and Math Cafe, I was getting a D7 for my A Math. However, as I attended the lessons here, I could see myself improving and getting better grades. Although each lesson is only 2 hours, I have learnt a lot as the lessons were very summarised and to the point. The notes that were prepared are very useful and helped me revise for exams as it contained a variety of frequently asked questions that would come out. What I liked best about the Physics and Math Cafe is that the teachers help make learning a more enjoyable process. They know what students’ weaknesses are and would address them at every topic we are at. I would recommend this centre to my friends and family so that they can also experience that learning can also be fun and enjoyable!!

Magdalene Rachel Cho , ~SECONDARY

Joining PMC for Maths classes have really helped me, such as in my understanding for the various topics as well as the ability to answer questions with more ease. The summary notes given has also been very helpful especially during revision. I only joined Maths classes much later, but I definitely would have joined earlier if I could turn back time. I would really recommend others to join PMC for Maths classes in the future.

Kazel Kiew , ~SECONDARY

I think that the classes PMC has provided are catered more towards students that are weak in their basics. Attending PMC has allowed me to relearn everything from the start and build up a stronger foundation. Although I did not score well for my prelims paper, I do think that it is a big improvement from a measly 28 marks to 47 marks, and I could have done better if it weren’t for all the careless mistakes. The centre provides a conducive environment for students to study in and a place for those who needs a place to study at. Also, I believe that all the Teachers at PMC cares about the wellbeing of the students — whether they were doing well, even to the extent of taking time out to evaluate students’ performance and how they could improve from there. In addition, the Teachers at PMC really attempt to keep students interested in the lesson as much as possible by cracking jokes and even making the lessons interesting using various ways. If were given the chance, I would have joined PMC earlier so that I could have a stronger foundation from the start which would aid me in my revision. I’m not sure about the overall performance of the cohort but I’m quite sure I am able to do well thanks to PMC:) I would definitely recommend my friends to join PMC however even after recommending it to them, most of my friends felt that the fees are too expensive and decided to opt for a cheaper yet workable choice of tuition classes instead.

Amber Ho , ~SECONDARY

Firstly, I love the spicy popcorn chicken. The cafe should change their flavours of popcorn chicken, maybe once per 2 months to create variety. I think that the cohort will do well this year as we are well trained(intensively) by Miss Toh. I feel that the time practices/tests could be longer and perhaps, some of the important pieces like the Mock Papers can be marked by the tutor(s), to allow better understanding of what our errors are. This is much more effective as the students, including myself, are unable to properly mark our questions as we are unfamiliar of the standardised “O” Level Marking Scheme. We sometimes blindly mark our answers and not our method marks, so there is a tendency for our methods to be slightly incorrect. We sometimes judge and award ourselves marks solely based on our answers and not our workings, which is the incorrect way of learning. The tutors will know best when to award the method marks to us.

I feel that Physics Cafe provides us with ample revision, which is the main reason why I joined this tuition anyway. I also think that the lessons are a little bit rushed (although this may be because I joined in August and the syllabus was already almost done). I found it a little bit hard at first, to ask questions in the middle of lessons as it is a group lesson. But Mr Shane Wong + the people here are very friendly, and I grew more comfortable with asking questions. It has really helped me as I had a C6 is Physics for my Mid-Year Exams, and I scored an A1 in my Prelims... Quite unbelievable but yeah. I cannot really say if I am ready for the exam, but Physics Cafe has really helped me be more prepared for my exam. I hope all of us will do very well for Physics and all our hard work will pay off! A1/2 for everyone!

Sharryl Seto , ~SECONDARY

The Physics lessons in PMC were very effective and the notes provided are concise and helpful, especially during revision. After joining PMC, I am able to better understand the topics and also exposed to the more challenging types of questions during lessons. I would gladly recommend others to join PMC in the future.

Kazel Kiew , ~SECONDARY

The quality of physics cafe is very good as compared to other tuition centres and in school as it provides very clear and systematic way of understanding concepts. I like the fact that drinks and snacks are provided during lessons or extended lessons. I joined the Physics cafe in sec3 before midyear examinations and I would have joined earlier if I had known about it earlier. Yes, I think the sec4 cohort will do well this year I will definitely recommend my friends to join physics cafe. Thank you!

Petrina low , ~SECONDARY

The quality of lessons at Physics Cafe are excellent, allowing us to go through topics taught in school and practicing related exam questions. The commodities available also help to enrich the experience there These include the free drinks, lucky wheel, even the student councillors are nice. I joined early in the year so that I could have enough time to prepare myself for the exams ahead and now I feel ready to take them on.

Muhammad Harith Bin Samri , ~SECONDARY

The lessons at the physics cafe are definitely much more enjoyable and concise than those at school as the tutor is always very friendly and engaging in his lessons, making the lessons a joy to attend and something to look forward to during the week. Since joining the tuition at the start of the year, my physics has been constantly improving and my only regret was not joining earlier when I was in Secondary 3.

Kieran Lee , ~SECONDARY

The quality of the lessons is the best as the student-teacher interaction is very good. I joined the physics cafe in January 2016. I had already started coming to the maths cafe back in 2012. If the paper is easy the whole sec 4 cohort would do well, but it would be hard to score as the distinction rate would rise to around 90/100. This means that some of the sec 4 students must ace their paper. Finally, I would recommend the physics / maths cafe to my friends or my juniors as it has really helped me figure out my weakness. I will really miss this place

N.S.Ramanan , ~SECONDARY

Personally, joining PMC is the best choice I’ve ever made. My physics was failing miserably and after attending regular lessons, I found physics to be interesting and fun. It helped me spark an interest and I started to improve tremendously. The lessons are fun and engaging :)) the student councillors (mainly Lily and Miao Xin) are both very kind and approachable; they make me feel like I can approach them for any of my needs and concerns. Also, the seaweed chicken is the besttttt. I joined after Chinese New Year in sec 4. Honestly, had I found out about PMC earlier, I would have joined at the start of sec 3 so that I wouldn’t have had to bridge such a huge gap. Definitely will recommend my friends to PMC 🙂

Zara Teo , ~SECONDARY

I really enjoy the carefree atmosphere at the physics cafe, as well as the responsibility given to students to ensure that they inform their own parents of certain issues (e.g. When to pay the fees). Most tuition centres send an email directly to the parent when it is time to pay the fees. I also think that the notes given are very useful when i am studying (e.g physics secrets enclosed). I joined the centre at the start of this year and i do regret not joining in Sec 3 as I am weaker in Sec 3 topics. I would like to think that i am ready to ace the exam but there is always room for improvement:) I also do believe that the Sec 4 cohort would do amazingly well as all of us have worked hard for the upcoming exam!! I am very grateful for Ms Toh for this past year and for the fun classes!

Natalie Law Xin Ying , ~SECONDARY

The lessons have been really helpful in helping me to understand the concepts better. The lessons are well planned and less rushed as compared to schools. I joined the physics cafe in the beginning of sec 4 and if I could turn back time I would have joined earlier so that I would not have struggled with my physics. Yes, I will recommend my friends to join the physics café

Phay Yi Ying , ~SECONDARY

The lesson has a steady pace and it is easily understandable as the teacher’s explanations are clear. What I like about physics cafe is the flexible time that is provided. If I am not able to make it on my tuition day I can just attend another class without having to tell the centre which is convenient. I joined Physics Cafe this year before June Holidays and I would have joined earlier. I think the Sec 4 cohort will do well I would highly recommend my friends to join.

Chan Eu Ching , ~SECONDARY

Physics cafe provides very comprehensive notes which allows me to revise very quickly for my examinations and tests. The questions in the worksheets given are also more challenging as compared to my school worksheets. Many of the questions have appeared in my exam, allowing me to have an edge over my peers as they might not have seen such questions before. I joined physics cafe after my sec 3 MYE exams as my physics results were terrible. I would have joined earlier if I knew about physics cafe 🙂 Yes! I think the physics and math cafe would do well this year as in my physics class, almost everyone is really good in their physics. I will recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe as it has helped me tremendously in my physics!??

Faith Tay , ~SECONDARY

hello! I am very satisfied and amused by the quality of the maths cafe lessons because they provide very detailed notes and questions that are not commonly seen in school, not forgetting the snacks and drinks 🙂 I joined the maths cafe mid this year and I would definitely have joined earlier. lastly, I will recommend my friends to join the maths cafe.

Yap Jing Yee , ~SECONDARY

The quality of the lessons is great and the way the teacher teaches and how the worksheets are distributed based on each lesson or topic criteria. The teacher also asks if anyone have questions to ask after each lesson caring whether they understood what she taught us or not. The teacher also asks each student three or more questions every lesson. The digital lessons improve our learning as it is not all-time boring whiteboard and the free flow of drinks was really great especially when one becomes tired or stressed after a lesson, it can really loosen one up. The student councillors are caring as well. They are great in doing what they need to do. I joined in way before the June holidays and when I think about it now I wished I could have joined in earlier. Of course, I will recommend this tuition to others just because of the great supply of different things that enhances us.

Kyaw Zay Yar Soe John , ~SECONDARY

Thank you for not giving up on us. I really enjoy the challenging questions you give us in the worksheets, which are also are comprehensive for studying. Having digital lessons are so convenient and helpful and the free drinks definitely have my short attention span!

Charlotte Loy , ~SECONDARY

I feel that The Math Cafe gave me an in-depth guide and many practices on the different math topics this allowed me the time to practice and learn on the topics. I liked the digital lessons which can help us catch up on any lessons I missed and keep me up to date. I joined in January 2017, If I could go back I time I would have preferred to join earlier. I would recommend my friend to join Maths Café

Andrew Wong , ~SECONDARY

I have recommended it to my friends, but a common comment is that it is too expensive, and they need to do homework from PMC late at night. I joined in sec 2 during the End of Year holiday programme and I would prefer to join earlier. HAHAH free drinks and student councillors are very friendly and approachable!!

Dionne , ~SECONDARY

I think the quality of the Maths Cafe lessons is much higher compared to school lessons as the questions are more challenging and the teachers can explain it so that I understand it more clearly. The notes provided are also very helpful when revising for exams as everything is consolidated and easy to understand. I would recommend my friends to join the maths cafe as I have found it quite helpful. The only snag is that it is quite expensive. However, I think it is worth it for the quality of lessons.

Ethel Tseng , ~SECONDARY

By attending the math lessons in the physics cafe, I was able to do questions with higher difficulty than usual and hence I was able to do well for my EOY exams. I would definitely recommend my friends who are weak in math to join the maths cafe!!

Jobie Lim , ~SECONDARY

Lessons here are more engaging than lessons in school. The notes and lessons also give me a much clearer understanding of the various concepts. I like the digital lessons as I can watch lessons that I did not attend on previous topics that I am weak at. The student councillors are really friendly too! I joined in May and would prefer to join earlier as I missed out on the topics that were taught before and I did really badly in tests on those topics. I will recommend PMC to my friends!

Lim Qi Hui , ~SECONDARY

The environment to learn in, the free flow of drinks and the award giving were amazing and great. I joined only at the start of this year and I wish I could have joined way earlier. I will also recommend my friends to join because of the great stuffs that they supply especially the way they give their lessons using the high technology digital lessons. The free Wi-Fi is great too so I would really recommend to others.

Kyaw Zay Yar Soe John , ~SECONDARY

Lessons are easy to understand and go at an easy pace. I have recommended two friends and will continue to do so.

Joanne Lai , ~SECONDARY

Thank you for making the lessons very interesting and engaging! Thank you for being very Organised in the administrative area as well! You’ve helped my marks to improve greatly even though I just joined your centre! Thank you!

Meredith Chong , ~SECONDARY

The centre gives questions more challenging than normal questions I see in school which makes me look at questions more carefully and think carefully. The vibe given off by the centre is something I like. I joined in the middle of the last lap of Secondary and would have preferred to join earlier. I would recommend it to my friends.

Celine Loo , ~SECONDARY

My physics really improved after joining The Physics Cafe and I finally understood all the topics. The questions we do are also super helpful!! Thank you, Mr Wong, for making class very fun as well :))

Nicole Seow , ~SECONDARY

Firstly, the tutors are all extremely patient and nice, especially Mr Wong, who bothered to remember our names even though he was only the substitute tutor for the day. They even took their time to explain to me about concepts that I don’t understand even after the lesson. Other than this, they have great teaching skills, their explanations are all extremely clear and easily understood. I was failing previously, but now, Physics is one of my favourite subjects. I sound like I’m trying very hard to flatter this tuition centre but I’m serious. The environment is also casual and fun, much different from tuition centres that often have teachers and workload that strike fear in students, I look forward to going The Physics Cafe. Everything is beyond excellent.

Yeh En Tong , ~SECONDARY

I’m thankful for the past three years in the PMC for the maths class. The teachers have taught me a lot and it’s thanks to them that I am spurred to achieve great things and do my best.

Darryl Foo , ~SECONDARY

I believe that the fees for PMC is indeed high. But considering the quality of the lessons, and nourishments provided, I believe that such lessons are truly worth the money. I am very thankful for all the teachers whom put it their 101% in what they are doing. Thank you, teachers 🙂

Liew Kai min , ~SECONDARY

In my opinion, PMC tuition is the best tuition I have attended. Joining this tuition was my idea as I wanted to improve on my physics and math. the materials are really helpful as it gives a thorough summary on various topics (applicable to both math and physics). not to mention, the lessons are really enjoyable, and the teachers have a way of making every single lesson interesting and memorable. I join PMC at the start of secondary 3 and regretted not joining earlier as I feel that my grades could have improved more. Whilst I feel that the students in PMC are both naturally smart and naturally self-motivated/well-disciplined, it is also important to mention that through the PMC teachers’ guidance, the students are able to grasp the concepts easily and understand the subject better, scoring a distinction. I would still recommend my friends this tuition as it is worth every single dollar.

Zachariah Chin , ~SECONDARY

I joined the Maths lessons in the Physics Maths Cafe (PMC) late this year. I was initially hesitant because of time constraints but I decided to after my experience in the Physics lessons. Since then, I have not regretted. My experience in the Maths lessons are extremely beneficial, with my tutor being approachable and being able to break down the concepts down to understand them better, I feel that I am now able to answer A Maths questions easily compared to before I joined. Similarly, I feel that although the fee may not be cheap, by putting in our own efforts in practicing questions in and out of lessons and clarifying our doubts, we would be able to achieve our goals for O Levels, and the amount we pay to attend lessons would be worth it.

Russell Wong , ~SECONDARY

PMC does not just provide a place for conducive learning but instils the mindset that something difficult can easily be simple with practice. The constant practice allows me to be familiar with the variety of questions that could come out for exams. If I could go back and time, I would have definitely joined earlier so as to get my foundation strong. With the students there, who are already well-disciplined and self-motivated, I’m easily influenced to keep striving and do my best.

Saarah Hidayah D/O Mohd Ansar , ~SECONDARY

Attending PMC was one of the best choices I have ever made. It has really helped me in my Amath’s grades and I have improved tremendously going from a B4 to A1. I first joined PMC in Secondary 2 for a short while but stop going and continued again in Secondary 4. It has been a really enriching journey and I am very grateful to the tutors! With the notes and tips given by the tutors and the amount practise done every week, I think I am ready to face the examinations. I am determined to do well for myself and for the amount of hard work that the tutors have put in!

Rebecca Yap , ~SECONDARY

Classes offered by PMC are unlike any other tuition centre. PMC has made my learning enjoyable. There is always something important to take away from each lesson and the rewards system keeps me motivated to participate well in class. The snack bar is an effective implementation and has helped me pay better attention during lessons. Overall, I would definitely recommend PMC who wants to score A1 at their O’ Levels.

Naidu Vibha , ~SECONDARY

I joined PMC at the beginning of 2018 and I’ve gradually seen improvement in my results. In Sec 3 I would always fail Amath and had very little confidence in the subject but after taking classes in Sec 4, I am more familiar with the content and I was finally able to pass my Amath paper during prelims. What I like about the centre is that the notes that they provide are concise and convenient to bring around. The tutors there are also detailed in their explanations and passionate in teaching. They are very helpful and ensure that students understand what is being taught. I’m glad I joined PMC for I have benefitted greatly from the classes there.

Anabel Thien , ~SECONDARY

I joined PMC by my friends’ recommendation. I like the daily practice and the past year O level questions prepared by PMC. They are very effective and allow me to be more familiar to questions of all level of difficulties. The tuition fee is higher than other tuition centres, but it is reasonable as the materials are generally more well-prepared. In overall, I enjoy the lessons in PMC.

Zhen Ru , ~SECONDARY

The materials given help in reinforcing concepts taught during the lesson and also gives us a quick reference/break down of all the topics covered and the techniques to solve them (secrets enclosed book).

Yew Khang , ~SECONDARY

I joined PMC in 2015, when I was in secondary 1. I feel that the math lessons here in PMC are very effective in helping me to secure an A1 in all my major examinations so far. Thus, as the O level is approaching, with the help and support given by PMC, I am very confident that I will be able to obtain an A1!

Jobie Lim , ~SECONDARY

I joined PMC for its math tuition because before I joined it my foundation for math was poor. Conceptually I was fine but as topics became more demanding I soon found math to be very messy and uncomfortable. I was sourcing for a method to compile the information into something that more concrete when I came across PMC. What I enjoy about PMC is that its notes are very thorough yet succinct at the same time. this really helped in my revision and to go through my topics with more clarity. Personally, I do feel that the cost is a little on the high side. The price could be made more accessible for students who may not be as fortunate as me to be able afford the tuition. However, overall, I do feel that my time at PMC has helped to align my understanding of math, and I would suggest it to those who may find the subject overwhelming.

Xander Goh , ~SECONDARY

I look forward for my lessons every week as my favourite subject is maths furthermore, when your tuition is enjoyable and it’s on your favourite subject, you will definitely be motivated to go, and I love every lesson and I am sad that I am leaving. I like the admin staff, they are very friendly furthermore if I want any notes they would print it out from me promptly and the free drinks offered is awesome. I joined after June Holidays when I was in sec 4. I wished I had joined earlier and spend more time and I am sad that everything is coming to an end. “Good things come to an end” but I wish this time it doesn’t. You can’t get your A1s by being naturally smart, if it was this easy everyone in Singapore would be getting it. It isn’t meant to be easy but tough and the students in physics cafe are motivated to do well (clearing our misconception, requesting for more work, managing our time well.)

Justyn , ~SECONDARY

I really enjoyed going to math lessons as they were the right level of difficulty. The lessons gave me confidence in my Maths and helped grow my love for the subject. The materials are very effective, and the notes are concise. I think that PMC disciplines students in making us take ownership of our learning by giving us take away questions weekly to consolidate the lesson taught.

Charlotte , ~SECONDARY

I feel that PMC gives us a lot of exposure to question types, moreover, the summary notes are also very useful. The teachers at PMC are also very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful as well!

Kimberly Khow , ~SECONDARY

The materials that PMC provides are short but simple and precise and teaches us to think at a higher level. The student councillors are really nice and are always very cheerful n helpful. I joined PMC math in sec 2 and physics in sec 4 I think those that scored distinction were self-motivated and inspired by PMC’s teaching and guidance, thus they could excel in their exams.

Natasha , ~SECONDARY

I’m grateful for joining the PMC for the past 2 years. They have helped me to establish my foundation for Physics and also find a passion in the subject. I hope that subsequent students will feel the same way I do. Even though the fee isn’t cheap, it’s worth it because of the great teachers and their efforts to help us.

Darryl Foo , ~SECONDARY

Lessons in PMC is interesting, and explanations are very clear which makes me want to attend lessons every week since it helps me to recap on different chapters. Materials and free drinks are what I like the most in the centre. I joined PMC in early 2018 and the lessons helped me to improve in my physics grade tremendously from a B4 to an A1. I will definitely have joined earlier if I knew that the lessons were than schools. I feel that students scored distinctions because of their appreciation for PMC and whatever you’ve done for them which makes them want to give back and do all of you proud by doing well for O levels.

Brian Cheah , ~SECONDARY

First and foremost, the lessons in the Physics Math Cafe are very engaging and interesting. Furthermore, there are digital lessons which allow students to watch the lessons that have been missed. Next, the notes provided are very concise and easy to understand. A case in point is the “Secrets Enclosed”, it summarises all the concepts required for the exams and makes revising easy. Finally, the tutors are extremely patient, knowledgeable and caring. They are willing to take time after lessons to answer any questions students may have. I would like to say a huge thank you to all my tutors for making learning fun! Before joining the Physics Cafe, I was unable to understand some of the topics taught in school. However, after joining this tuition in the middle of Secondary 3, I was amazed at the ease with which the tutors were able to explain these topics. The tutors made me understand the topic within 30 minutes, something which the teacher in school was unable to do in 3 hours. In fact, if I had learnt of this centre earlier, I would definitely join it. When I joined the Maths Cafe in Secondary 3 in December, I had not understood anything which the teacher was teaching in school. Hence, I was failing Additional Mathematics with straight E8s and in fact, I still failed up to Secondary 4 MYEs with an F9 (32.1%). At that point, I was contemplating dropping the subject. Quoted from Mr Dave Sim: “You will never believe something so difficult can be so simple.” After my MYE, the revision of Secondary 3 topics in MC started and I started understanding A Maths. During the revision, I found the subject to be much simpler than I had always thought it was and I finally understood the meaning of that quote from Mr Dave Sim. The clarity of the explanations and simplicity of the notes coupled with my drive to succeed allowed me to improve at an exponential rate and I managed to achieve an A1 (81.7%) in Prelims. In conclusion, Physics Math Cafe is undoubtedly the best physics and math tuition centre. Despite the high costs of tuition, it is unquestionably worth the money.

Ernest Choo , ~SECONDARY

I absolutely love attending PMC! After attending PMC, I had a much greater and deeper understanding of physics which really helped me pull up my grades (I think this is the same for the rest of my tuition mates as well!), up to the point where my classmates were asking me to teach them physics. The lessons were super fun and interesting to attend, it’s not the usual boring tuition in which students fall asleep in, and PMC proves that homework is not needed in order to do well! The teachers and the staff are extremely kind and helpful. Special thanks to my tutor Mr Shane Wong for being such a patient and engaging tutor and making lessons so interesting and funny 🙂 I definitely wouldn’t have done so well if it wasn’t for PMC. thank you so much!

Cristal Bel Chin , ~SECONDARY

When I first found out about the Physics Maths Cafe (PMC), I wasn’t forced to attend lessons, but I was intrigued by the unique learning environment that it has to offer compared to other tuition centres, and so, I joined the Physics Cafe early this year. What really sets the Physics Cafe apart from other tuition centres is the incorporation of facilities, like the study room and a vending machine and approachable tutors. My tutor, Mr Wong, will be one of the teachers that I will remember in the future. He creates a light-heartening learning experience, with many jokes made along the way, and breaking down the concepts so it’s easier to understand. I feel that although the tuition fee may not be cheap, it will be worth it in the end with the tutors’ help and putting in our own efforts to achieve a better grade in Physics.

Russell Wong , ~SECONDARY

Before I joined Physics Cafe, I was unable to understand concepts clearly and their applications in different types of questions. I had begun to lose interest in the subject. I was initially hesitant to go for any tuition, but my friends encouraged me to give it a try. The materials provided, and the teacher’s clear explanations made lessons easy to understand. The practice in answering questions allowed me to understand the applications of the physics concepts and be more confident in solving physics questions. They even revised previous topics which I had been unsure of. I am extremely glad that I enjoyed Physics Cafe and definitely think I could have joined earlier to build a stronger foundation in the subject. I now feel more prepared for giving physics examinations and have even started to enjoy learning physics.

Jesleen , ~SECONDARY

I started off wanting to join PMC because I felt that I needed more help in my physics. I think what is good is that it condenses my learning in school by topics in two hours (i.e. effective learning) and assists me to prepare for my ‘O’ levels. My parents did not force me to attend lessons, and by the way, I like the free drinks. 🙂

Shirmaine Kwok , ~SECONDARY

I’m not self-motivated, especially when it comes to physics as it is my worst subject. I think the lessons in PMC has really helped me as I’m much clearer of concepts now. I joined around the June Holidays this year and yes, I wished I joined much earlier. Although I do think the fees are not cheap, I think it is worth the cost as the I’m clear of the last few concepts in physics as I learnt it in PMC.

Song Kah Yin , ~SECONDARY

The notes provided by PMC are more concise and enjoyable to read compared to the big bulky textbook and it allows us to read and grasp the information easily. Centre provides free drinks and snacks before and after lessons (also during make up digital lessons) which provide a fresh new twist to what a tuition centre seems like. The digital lessons allow students to catch up quickly when they aren’t able to attend their allocated time slots at their own time. I joined PMC during the June Holidays in Sec 3. Before that, my physics grades have been wallowing at the bottom, but I feel more confident with applying concepts and laws now.

Raelee Toh , ~SECONDARY

My parents do not force me to attend tuition. I attend because I want to learn more. I am thankful to kind and helpful tutors such as Mr Wong, Mr Ma and Mr Leong. Thank you all, dear teachers! I think students do well because firstly, they study really hard and secondly, they have knowledgeable and helpful teachers to guide them. The attitude of the teachers is very important too. PMC materials are quite good overall.

Damaen Tan , ~SECONDARY

One thing I like about PMC is the notes given. They are really helpful during the exam period since the notes are short yet full of information which is required for the papers and easy to bring it around. They are easy to understand as well!

Jobie Lim , ~SECONDARY

I decided to start my lessons at PMC after being clueless about Physics all the time, but after lessons at PMC, my teacher taught me very clearly and very well and I slowly began to understand a lot more than I ever did before. Together with PMC’s excellent resources such as their notes and their Secrets Enclosed book, I feel that I have benefitted a lot from these lessons. PMC has a high distinction rate of close to 8 out of 10 students scoring a distinction every year, as much as the teacher guides us very well in effectively handling the subject, I believe a large part of the success is also due to the students’ hard work in trying to complete all the not compulsory homework after every lesson.

Neo Kai Lun , ~SECONDARY

The notes are really useful, and I can always rely on the teacher to explain concepts I am not confident in, both from the papers given to papers I have done outside of lessons

Elizabeth Leia Tan , ~SECONDARY

It is not cheap but for the quality and the results I can see after having joined, I would say it is all worth it.

Ryan Sim , ~SECONDARY

I think I am quite self-motivated. My parents do not force me to attend lessons. I attend PMC because I find lessons here a lot more effective as I can understand better. I like the way the teachers teach and the notes that are given. The way the teachers teach gives me a very clear understanding of the topic through their explanation, and the notes given are very concise and easy to understand. I joined PMC before Sec3 MYEs. I think I am 70% ready for Os but I still need a lot of practice on topics that I am weak at. I would definitely join earlier, at the start of Sec3 because I was still very confused about kinematics and dynamics after school lessons, so I think that if I joined earlier, I would’ve grasped the topics better like I did with other topics. I think being naturally smart gives you an advantage over others but coupled with self-motivated and self-discipline, scoring an A would be much easier. I understand that tuition fees are not cheap, but for the quality of the materials and lessons, I think it’s worth it because I improved drastically since the start of Sec3 and it’s because of the lessons at PMC.

Nicole Seow , ~SECONDARY

Before joining PMC, I did not have much interest in Physics. I only joined because I wanted to improve in this subject. However, after experiencing 2 years of lessons from Sec 3 to 4, I have developed a passion for it, and I would owe it to the dedicated tutors who work very hard in order to help us to grasp complicated concepts. My physics grades have also improved a lot. So, thank you to all the tutors for caring so much about us and helping me to reach my potential!

Clara Heng Yih Xian , ~SECONDARY

I attend lessons not because my parents forced me to but because I wanted to improve my results. I like the materials and facilities (recreational room and drinks). I joined after June holidays. I think that those who scored distinction religiously do the work given and practice a lot and it doesn’t have anything much to do with being naturally smart since physics is a subject which is skill-based so as the saying goes, “practice makes perfect”

Shania Go , ~SECONDARY

I feel that PMC gives us a lot of exposure to question types. Moreover, the summary notes are also very useful. The teachers at PMC are also very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful as well!

Kimberly Khow , ~SECONDARY

The physics cafe gives very detailed notes with challenging questions which enable students to develop analytical skills which help with solving other similar questions. It has really helped me understand many concepts, even beyond the syllabus and helps physics lesson to be more interesting for its students. The student portal is also very convenient in accessing information regarding lessons and scheduling make-up lessons.

Meredith Chong , ~SECONDARY

Initially, I was very reluctant to attend the lessons, as it was on a weekend and I wanted to rest. However, after attending a few lessons, I realised that the lessons were very beneficial, and they really helped me improve my physics, as well as help me find my passion for said subject. Best free drinks station!! And, the materials, especially the ‘secrets enclosed’ books as I always revise them before taking my exams in school. I joined PMC at the start of 2017, when I was in Sec 3. I feel that it is a good time to join as it will help give you the necessary push for studying physics, and also not be too stressed out. I do think I’m ok to take the exams, but I still have much revising to do. Some students are naturally smart and talented in physics, and their parents want them to go to tuition to ensure they study the subject, so it’s no wonder that they get distinction. There are also definitely those who have benefitted from the classes and improved a lot throughout the years.

Lam Li Yan , ~SECONDARY

Firstly, I always love to attend the PMC lessons as my tutor (Mr Shane) is always able to deconstruct complicated physics questions into its basic and simplified forms. It has taught me to not be afraid of complicated, long drawn diagrams as ultimately those questions at the core are simple equations to be solved. Furthermore, he has inspired me to also become to a Physics teacher in the future as he is a great teacher with amazing dedication, he is even willing to stay back for hours just to help me solve several questions in my Prelim papers or TYS! Secondly, I kept scoring C5’s and B4’s throughout sec 3 and decided to join back the PMC at the start of sec 4 to improve my grades. And without a doubt, PMC has indeed helped me to improve my physics from a C5 to an A2 during my prelims (top 15% in my school for physics!) Lastly, I personally believe that the students who attend PMC aren’t genuinely much smarter or gifted as per say. However, I do believe that the way the teachers teach by showing how physics is actually understandable has really struck a chord with me. I also believe that the high distinction rates of PMC students is mainly possible due to the dedication and inspiration from both the teachers and students that make it possible as I now have a genuine interest and love in Physics thanks to my tutor helping out with my questions. Thanks so much!

Loo Ming Zhou Jordan Loo , ~SECONDARY

I enjoy attending lessons and look forward to them. Lessons are made fun with interactive vids and fun teachers, even more so with complimentary drinks and food!! Wished I have joined earlier.

Ryan teo , ~SECONDARY

I come for classes because I feel that they are genuinely very helpful and allow me to understand concepts and master difficult questions better. Lessons are interesting and have helped me a lot in improving for physics. I think the student portal is very helpful and organised and is very useful. Furthermore, the materials are very good and help me to learn more, and the tutors explain lessons in a way that I can understand easily. I definitely would have joined PMC earlier if I had the Chance, as I feel I would have benefitted more if I had participated in earlier classes. I feel that Many students score As because they are both smart, and because lessons help a lot. It’s one thing to be smart, but with the right teaching it goes a Long way in really helping one score a distinction. I must agree that the tuition fee is expensive, but I do think that it is worth the money as it has really helped me a lot.

Tricia kuan , ~SECONDARY

I am extremely self-motivated and the reason why I signed up for tuition is because I felt I was lacking behind my peers in school due to my slower speed of learning and I felt that tuition is necessary for me to keep up with them. The notes that PMC provide are well organised and contains essential information about the individual topics which allows me to quickly recall important concepts just with a few flips. What I like the most about the centre is the fact that the tutors always engage every single student in the class by giving every student a chance to answer a question to ensure that every student is keeping up with the lesson and are not zoning out. I joined PMC at the start of secondary 4 and if given a chance, I would definitely join earlier as if I did, I would have an easier time in secondary 4 as I am generally weaker in my secondary 3 topics and took quite some time to catch up on them in secondary 4. I think the high distinction rate in the PMC is most definitely not because the students are naturally smart but because most students are motivated and with motivation and the well-planned lessons in PMC, students are able to make the most out of each lesson and as such, are likely to score a distinction in the O Levels. Even though the tuition fees are not cheap at the PMC, I honestly feel that it is worth the fees due to the conducive environment provided at the centre and the well-planned lesson packages.

Teo Wei Jie , ~SECONDARY

I definitely agree that PMC tuition fee is not the cheapest especially when compared to other centres. However, it is worth the money and useful as I was able to get great tutors who were willing to stay after class to answer my queries. The question papers and answer schemes given to students were also of high quality and standards and I’m extremely grateful for that. I started growing an interest in physics after joining PMC and I enjoy doing it now as it is so much simpler. I improved from a fail grade to B3 for prelims and I hope that I get distinction eventually for O’ Levels. I improved greatly and I’m really thankful for everyone in PMC. Credit points and the free Wi-Fi and snacks really made tuition fun and made me look forward to every Saturday! Thank you so much PMC! 🙂

Chandiramohan Harisha , ~SECONDARY

PMC’s teaching style and resources are very effective. I joined the Math and Physics tuitions and even though the improvement was not immediate. With much motivation from tutors and the enjoyable lessons, I have managed to pull my additional math score from F9 to A1 and my physics score from C6 to A1 last year. The studying environment is very conducive and the free drinks at Novena is really great. Being able to get good grades is due to tutors’ motivation, help and our own passion.

Tan Guan Shi , ~SECONDARY

The LPS is very useful as the lecture notes just has too many things and I get too stressed out about understanding and memorising everything. For the whole Physics 2 year syllabus the whole stack of my notes is <20 pages! It is efficient and very useful, the procedures apply to almost all the questions in the topic. Thank you Mr Sim!

Joan , IB

I progressed from struggling with Physics last year (and hating the subject) to understanding Physics and being able to apply the concepts and steps that Mr Sim taught me so. I was lucky to have Mr Sim as my Physics tutor. Currently doing the IB diploma & got a grade 7 (highest grade in IB) in Physics in my recent prelims! Now Physics is my most favourite subject. Mr Sim made it possible by explaining to me in a step-by-step process and exactly how to apply what I learn to questions. Mr Sim is one of the best Physics teachers in the world! He does not dismiss your questions no matter how insignificant – and makes sure you understand all the concepts. He is one of a kind – dedicated to teaching & committed to making sure you do well. Thanks!!!!

Joan , IB

I studied IB Physics [HL] with Mr. Sim in the months leading up to my final exams. Before I started with Mr. Sim, Physics lessons at school didn’t make much sense; concepts were disconnected and poorly organized, and were pitched a level that went way over our heads. My teacher told me, frankly, that he didn’t expect me to do well. After just five months with Mr. Sim, though, I got the best possible score for my final exam of 7 points. Mr. Sim is a dedicated teacher, who was determined to give me as much time as I needed to do well. He has full confidence in his students’ ability as well as his own, which inspires even the most unenthusiastic students. This confidence is not uncalled for; my friends and I showed a rapid and marked improvement in our test results even after just a few sessions! His notes are concise and well-explained; his unique and problem-solving-based approach ensures that the student understands the reasoning behind the Physics, and he tailors his style for each student. And not only is he capable, he’s nice as well; he has a great sense of humour and boundless patience. He fielded even my most inane questions with perseverance. His ability to explain concepts from multiple angles allowed him to clarify questions that continued to trouble me, as opposed to a lot of the teachers out there who just keep repeating themselves until the student gives up and pretends to understand! He’s also well versed in the tips and tricks of question setting, and is able to advise his students on common mistakes and even some of the more unusual ones, which was miraculously useful for our very tricky final paper. Thanks, Mr. Sim, for putting the sense in science.

Sandesh Kaur , IB

The thing that struck me about Mr Dave Sim was how dedicated he was to teaching and helping his students improve. We had a class from 4:30pm to 7:00pm, following which he had another group of students at 7:30pm – meaning that he had barely half an hour for his dinner. However, he often extended our lessons and answered our incessant questions, resulting in him having less than fifteen minutes to eat. (Sorry Sir ><) The four of us started lessons with him with only a few months left to the exam, in other words, a crazy crash course. I was terrible at Physics, really really terrible, but Mr Dave Sim managed to help me understand various concepts through his precise, yet simple explanations. One thing that was particularly useful was the mind map he’d create for each topic, condensing the entire chapter into a single page of concise and extremely useful notes. Make no mistake about it, those mind maps were our lifelines on the day before our exams. It was pretty tough having such a tight time constraint, but Mr Dave Sim was extremely patient, going through multiple questions and repeating examples to make sure we got all our fundamentals right. Somehow, we covered all that was necessary, and did well in our exams. Lessons weren’t only informative – they were highly enjoyable as well. The four of us actually looked forward to Thursdays! Mr Dave Sim made use of interesting teaching methods to help us visualise abstract Physics ideas. Videos, animations, models – you name it. He particularly had a knack for little magic tricks (too bad we figured them out though) which held Physics notions behind them. Learning Physics became fun and exciting. You’d want to have Mr Dave Sim as your Physics tutor, because really, he is an awesome teacher. Not only because of how capable he is, but because he truly has a heart for his students. I wouldn’t have conquered survived Physics without his help. Thank you so much Sir! 😀

Lydia , IB

Before I joined The Physics Café, I was struggling with my H2 subjects in school, especially Physics where I consistently scored Us for class tests. Back then, I had no clue about what was covered during lessons in school, due to the slow pace of lessons there. I got very anxious that I couldn’t cope with Physics as a subject in the long run, until one of PMC’s former students recommended me to sign up. When I stepped foot into The Physics Café for the very first time, I was amazed by the overall appearance and size of the centre, and how it didn’t look like any ordinary tuition centre! There was that iconic vending machine with free drinks, and a self-service snack shelf. I was also quite blown away by how the lessons were conducted, as well as the conducive learning environment! Be it Physics or Math lessons, they may be fast-paced but are structured in such a way that is both time-efficient and easy to understand for students. What takes the school 4 lectures to cover is nicely compacted into a mere 2-hour lesson, and even the hardest concepts are being made easy here in PMC! Over time, I slowly improved from a U grade to a D, then finally to an overall B grade with an A for Paper 3! Previously, I was upset that I had no conducive place to study at home, in school, or in public libraries. Thankfully, The Physics Café is here to save the day! You have the freedom to study near the admin counter or all the way inside the designated study area in the centre. Be it Paya Lebar, Bukit Timah or Novena, all 3 centres provide you with an almost noiseless environment which is perfect for studying long hours! Even though I do not live near Paya Lebar, along with my school being at Bukit Batok, I always look forward to travelling all the way to The Physics Café no matter how long the journey is, be it to attend lessons or for self-study! I would definitely recommend The Physics and Maths Café to JC students taking H2 Physics or H2 Math, regardless of how well they’re doing in school. As long as you stay engaged throughout the lessons, I can guarantee that you will have a wonderful learning experience, and your grades will gradually improve too! Even the toughest of topics and concepts would be easy for you to grasp, thanks to the hard work of the outstanding tutors here – Mr Dave Sim, Mr Daniel Kwok, Mr Leong, and many more! Thank you, PMC for giving me a wonderful place to study, and helping me regain my self-confidence over the past 2 years. You have given me so much, and this, is truly my happy place! 😀

Lim Jia Ler , IB

Initially, I was only looking for math tuition after my mid-years in J1. However, during this search, I receive a recommendation from my Cousin who introduced me to The Physics Cafe. After attending the first lesson, I received a warm welcome from the admin and felt comfortable being in a new environment. The lessons I attended had been amazing and I realised how physics and math concepts has become much easier to understand and be applied to my learning. With summarised contents, it is easier and more efficient in learning and makes physics and math less complicated. However, it is still necessary to expose ourselves to more questions to familiarise with the concepts learnt.

Farrel Koh , IB

The tutors are very motivational and have a lot of faith in us being able to do well, which helps us to be even more self-motivated because we are aware that the tutors are very supportive, and we want to do them, and ourselves, proud.

Nicole Lee En , IB

Before attending physics tuition at The Physics Cafe, I was actually totally clueless to how I could revise my H2 physics topics and what to actually pay attention to for each individual topic. Instead, I chose to cram my school lecture notes as much possible to clear my Physics exam. But after attending Mr Dave Sim’s lesson, I found the mind map on the last page of the notes extremely useful in providing quick and instant recollection of my Physics concepts. In addition, after being taught color coding methods by Mr Sim to do our notes, I found Physics easier to revise than before. I would definitely recommend Physics Cafe to all students 🙂

Noel Png Jia Hao , YJC

I have learnt lots of technique in answering questions. The difference between here and school is that the school lecturer can be boring at times and may complicate certain concepts while Mr Sim is very clear in telling us the concepts and humorous at times. This, this will not make the lesson boring. Also, Mr sim also engages with the student by asking the students questions which will never happen in school. I will definitely recommend my juniors and friendsto join the physics cafe! Thanks Mr Sim for your teaching!

Lim Yi Heng , YJC

Thank you Mr Sim for helping me improve my grades tremendously! Mr Sim’s notes are very concise and useful for effective learning! His explanations and teachings are very clear and short which makes me able to understand and digest what he has taught us!

Justin Onggo , YJC

Mr Sim is a very experienced teacher because he knows what typical exams/tests are asking for and able to answer many doubts/misconception even before we ask him. The approaches and skills Mr Sim introduced in solving different questions are easy to understand and less confusing than the way schools usually teach. The notes/ summary mindmap also help me to grasp the essence of each topic in shortest time possible, so I do recommend those who are still struggling in Physics to join Physics Café.

Fang Ziwen , YJC

Mr sim clarifies my misconception of the topics I am weak in through his clear and simplified explanation in class, incomparable to my learning in school. The centre also provides free drinks and the student councillors there are really nice and pretty. I’m pretty sure the jc2 cohort would do well this year with the effort they put in alongside the help this centre provides.

Solomon Tan , YJC

The Physics Cafe has definitely allowed me to grasp physics concepts much easier than before. The concise notes make revision much easier and the take away questions provide a much needed source of revision. Thanks Mr Sim!

Tham Jun Han , YJC

Physics cafe lessons are effective and efficient. The 2 hours spent each lesson is definitely a fruitful one. Mr Dave Sim always comes prepared and you can tell that he is prepared based on the questions he asks to the class.ITS LIKE HE IS READING OUR MINDS. The new place in toa payoh is very conducive and is well structured for learning. I will definitely recommend physics cafe to my friends that need help in physics.

Daanyaal Khan , YJC

I joined Mr Sim when I was beginning JC 1 as I knew my foundation was weak and I must do something to ensure that I will enter my desired course. I was recommended by my senior and initially I was afraid whether the tuition will be effective. However, Mr Sim’s notes were more concise and had a more logical flow than my school notes. This ensured that I do not need to spend much time solely on physics and made more time to focus on other subjects. Also, his lessons were faster than school, but it was easier to catch up with the pace. Mr Sim ensured that everyone answered his questions to further deepen the understanding of abstract concepts and include application to daily life. Furthermore, the digital videos allowed me to revisit certain concepts that I have forgotten. Through Physics Cafe, I am confident of myself scoring As for my subjects during A levels. Thanks Mr Sim!

Shaiful Ridhwan , YJC

Mr Sim is able to come up with concise concepts for physics, by summarizing the important parts of every topic. His elaboration for every topic is clear and even when we do not get it the first time round, he is very friendly and approachable and never fails to ensure that his concept is brought across to us as clear as possible. He also emphasizes on exam skills to train us essentially for the A level examination. His tuition centre is very conducive for learning and he pays attention to every student’s needs as much as he can.

Ng Woon Aik , SRJC

Mr Dave Sim is an amazing physics teacher who is able to explain Physics theories and concepts in ways that we were able to easily understand. His physics notes were useful, especially the summary booklet we received during the June workshop. They were clear, concise and most importantly, have the most essential concepts and answering techniques for each topic summarized in A5 booklets which came in really handy. Mr Sim also has his way of encouraging his students to do better and was always sending us emails and texts to motivate us. I’ve always been bad at Physics especially since the start of my J2 year. After joining the physics tuition class in May, I saw myself improving gradually over the months and surprisingly also found myself developing an interest in the subject ( I really used to hate Physics!). All in all I’m really thankful to have had Mr Sim as my Physics tutor and if I were to choose again, The Physics cafe would still be my choice. (:

Lee Xinyi , SRJC

I got an A for my physics A- levels and I was very happy as I have never gotten an A before. I would say The Physics Cafe played an important role in helping me in my understanding of the subject and also prepared me well by strengthening my foundation and exposing me to many different types of questions. With all the material provided and explanations by Mr Sim I was able to compile a notebook of my own which also consisted of notes provided by the school, which really helped me understand the subject better. I will definitely recommend The Physics cafe to my friends and the lessons here were really quite enjoyable.

Jeanette Leong , SRJC

The notes are very concise and great for revision, I think The Physics Cafe have really gave me a good overview of physics and how to tackle the different types of questions with utmost understanding. The difference between The Physics Cafe and the school is that, unlike in school, the contents and concepts of each topics can be effectively taught to us and challenging questions are filtered out to best cater to the needs of students to ace the A levels. I’ll definitely recommend the physics cafe to my friends as the experience was a meaningful one.

Randall Ang , SRJC

The Physics Café is very good in teaching complex topics by summarizing the concepts into the notes and mindmaps. Made understanding the concepts a lot easier to grasp and apply. The constant worksheets for revision of the more complex topics were very useful as students got to try and apply their knowledge and ability of the topic once they have been taught it. Especially the grade A questions that gives students the idea of how a grade A question of that topic will be like. Lessons are engaging as Mr Sim will direct questions to students, masking the warring environment more interactive. I will recommend my friends to join! 🙂

Audrey Tang , SRJC

Looking back at 2011 after the O levels, never would I have expected that I could get an A for physics A levels, on top of how through the 2 years in JC, it was one of my best subjects. This is not because I am at all talented in physics, let alone highly interested in it. Rather, it was by the guidance and patience of Mr Sim that made this possible. Difficult concepts were made understandable, easier concepts were made meaningful, even revealing the depth of knowledge behind it.The rigor in which physics was taught at The Physics Cafe is remarkable. Concepts were taught on the basis of what the students could best grasp them from. Exercise questions were meticulously selected to provide breadth and depth to the chapter. Practice sets were given to us to ensure we could master the chapter at our own pace, balancing the demands we had from other subjects. The way in which The Physics Cafe is modeled reveals the kind of teacher Mr Sim is. Meticulous, yet visionary; rigorous yet understanding; disciplined yet caring. Therefore, it is truly no exaggeration when I say that Mr Sim is one of the best teachers I’ve had the privilege to know in my life. Thank you very much Mr Sim!

Charissa Chan , SRJC

Before I came to the physics cafe, I struggled very much with Physics. Questions that came at me seemed so foreign and demands so obscure that I had great difficulty in even applying my knowledge of physics to answer them. Thankfully, the skills I have learnt at physics cafe helped me approach complex “Grade A” questions systematically and efficientlydespite meeting such unfamiliar situations. While other teachers may teach me how to solve specific questions, the lack of a systematic approach and thinking which the Physics Cafe provided, had often left me unable to solve the next difficult question. I think the secret to the success of the Physics Cafe in helping students get their desired grades is probably their effective system of teaching and exam approach. I would highly recommend any lost souls who seek the grace of a Physics god to join the Physics Cafe.

Emily Koh , SRJC

Hi Mr Sim! Now that physics (and my A-levels) have ended, I thought I should send you this text 🙂 Thank you very much for being my teacher & for doing more than just teaching knowledge to us. I’ve learned more than physics from you; you’ve taught me what tenacity really is and exemplified the persona of someone who takes a lot of pride in what he does, spurring me on to strive to do the same 🙂 So thank you very much for that & for making physics enjoyable & almost painless to learn. I cannot promise you I can get an A for physics but I can assure you I’ve done my best and am grateful for your guidance nonetheless. All the best with your future/current batches of students & enjoy your well deserved end of year break!!

Charissa Chan , SAJC

In JC there is really such a limited time for revision but The Physics Cafe is able to summarize content concisely into mind maps and emphasize on the important things for each topic. I had always leave lesson feeling mind-blown but definitely more confident of the subject. I would recommend Physics Cafe to my friends. Thank you!

Adeline Ong , SAJC

You have definitely made me more confident in the subject and I understand it better. Mr Sim is clear and concise and so are the notes. The questions he goes through are also relevant and really boils down to the clarity of the explanation and logic (other than quantum) but with understanding, it’s easier to remember. Physics Maths Cafe teaches us what we need to know for A-Levels whereas school gives us too much information. I will and have been recommending my friends to join but it’s too expensive for them. But I guess it’s just Demand and Supply.

Nichole Ng Yu Wen , SAJC

Apart from providing a summary, the June Holiday Physics Workshop also exposed us to ‘grade A’ questions for each topic which consolidated the information that we have been learning in school and test our understanding of the topic. The timed conditions also simulate exam conditions by putting pressure on us to solve questions. Mr Sim is able to break down each chapter into the key concepts and provides us with concise notes which would save us a lot of time in the future when revising. He can clearly explain the key concepts in each chapter and the common mistakes students make, and the approach that we undertake when answering questions. He made studying for physics much easier and has definitely boosted my confidence in the subject.

Nicholas Loh , SAJC

I like how Physics Cafe compiles the entire syllabus into a small handful booklet, with each topic summarized into 2-3 pages! It provided much help in helping me understand the topic better, in identifying the different question types, and aided in my revision and practice. I learn something new at every lesson I attend, and it feels good when I can apply what I learnt into school practices and tutorials as well! Thank you Physics cafe! (

Adeline Ong , SAJC

After attending the physics cafe, physics really got a lot easier with mindmaps and many short cuts taught through practices after practices. Previously struggled understanding my own school’s lecture notes however Mr Sim has a way of helping students understand complex concepts through concise explanations. His lessons are also entertaining at times; livening and lightening the mood through some jokes! 🙂 The June holiday lessons were the most beneficial as it is through those lessons that I was able to catch up with my J1 work and clear my doubts at the same time. Thanks Mr Sim for making physics a lot easier and more enjoyable!

Chloe , SAJC

I would like to thank Mr Sim and the physics cafe team for organising the June hols revision programme. The programme has indeed served as a refresher for the concepts that were taught before. This made it easier for me to recall concepts whilst attempting past year papers.

Benjamin Wang , SAJC

TPC has helped me in ways that school could not have done so by equipping me with useful mental frameworks that stretch beyond physics application, I would say that it has imparted more than just skills and knowledge that aid in doing well for physics – providing me with a completely different way to approach problems.

Aravind K , SAJC

The physics notes are good and simple. They are so simple that me, as a Physics student, I only need 10 minutes to revise for each topic that is covered in the syllabus. Mr Sim explains concepts and uses analogies so well that concepts that seemed alien in school will be cleared up by the end of the session. I would totally recommend my friends that are taking Physics of any level to come and join TPC as I am sure that they will improve continuously under the guidance of Mr Sim.

Jonathan Lim , SRJC

I scored an A for my Physics in A-level and I was extremely delighted as I know it isn’t easy to get an A for physics. The Physics Cafe definitely geared me towards truly understanding physics and not just blindly solving questions like I used to. Weekly sessions and intensive revisions towards exams really reinforced key concepts essential to me to tackle the A-levels. I would definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe!

Colin Foong , SRJC

Physics Cafe has been really effective on training me towards answering all types of physics questions by enforcing that I should seek to understand and not memorize and regurgitate content. At the same time, giving us loads of work to practice on really helped me by giving me exposure to all sorts of challenging questions and giving me confidence during exams. Explanations of key concepts and summary of notes were extremely concise and helpful to me as well, unlike thick sets of lecture notes from schools. I will definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe.

Colin Foong , SRJC

I have been in The Physics cafe since the start of last year due to my mediocre physics results in secondary school and have even come to love the subject. I was able to consistently top the class for physics and I have recommended many classmates to come here and most of them have found it useful and improved. I am confident that with Mr Sim’s teaching, the 2014 cohort of The Physics Cafe will do well and maintain The Physic Cafe’s current standard and even improve. Thank you for your teaching and guidance throughout these 2 years sir!

Tan Boon Ping , SRJC

I indeed have become more confident in solving physics questions and would more or less know if I would get it right or wrong. TPC explains concepts clearly first to make sure we understand and then proceed to solve questions that are related to that concept to help strengthen our understanding which is something I find really effective. Shortcuts and tips to solving questions fast and right are also taught which helps in exams. Yes I would definitely recommend TPC to my friends if they are financially capable to do so.

JesslynKoh , SRJC

The Physics Cafe had really helped in making me understand the concepts of each topic. Lessons are very well explained and steps to solving different types of questions helped me solve questions at a faster pace. Revision and practice for physics is more efficient and effective at TPC than to do it by myself. I used to score straight U for physics when I was J1 and even when I spend extra time on physics, I still could not pass. But after joining TPC, I’ve improved tremendously and started to see how the vague concepts became clear. Thank you Mr Sim 🙂

JesslynKoh , SRJC

The Physics Cafe has taught me very useful thinking processes and answering techniques that has helped me improve my Physics. The grade A questions that TPC provides have also benefited me greatly. Travelling to The Physics Cafe is definitely not a waste of time as what I learn/what is covered during the 2 hours lesson is definitely more than what I can do if I study on my own. After all, with The Physics Cafe, I am under expert help and as I continue to learn with Mr Dave Sim, I’m becoming an expert of my own. The Physics Cafe is definitely faster paced than school lectures/tutorial and we also cover more depth within a shorter amount of time in TPC. Though it may seem unlikely that it is possible to cover more within lesser time, Mr Dave Sim makes the concepts seem so easy that physics becomes an easy subject to grasp! I absolutely have faith the 2015 JC2 cohort of The Physics Cafe will do well this year and I definitely would recommend The Physics Cafe to my friends and juniors!

Brian Pek , SRJC

I will recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe as they place emphasis on problem solving techniques rather than just rote memorization. This has allowed me to gain confidence during examinations as I am able to solve the more challenging questions.
The Physics Cafe has also helped me to save precious revision time as they are able to go through more concepts and content in 2 hours than I am able to do alone in 5 hours.

Damien Tan , SRJC

I have become more confident in handling more challenging physics questions. The lessons are short yet effective in delivering the key points of each chapter so that students can learn and absorb them quickly. I really like and am thankful for everything that the physics cafe have provided.

Ryan Lai Teck Xuan , SRJC

The overview of the chapters have shorten the time for studying! In addition the physics cafe cares for the student as not many centres provide complimentary food and drinks. It helps me stay awake when I’m tired. 🙂

Soh Jia Min , SRJC

I have benefitted a lot from the lessons. The questions provided allows me to have a good exposure of the topic and be prepared for the kind of questions that can be asked related to the topics. Explanations given by Mr Sim are also very clear and easy to understand. The physics booklet also allows me to have a quick overview of all the concepts. All these materials have made my revision much easier and efficient.

Muthu Aravinth , SRJC

The Physics Cafe have been able to teach Physics concepts very clearly. Mr Sim cuts straight to the point when teaching instead of the school teachers who spend ages explaining concepts and in turn making us more confused instead. I love the free drinks and food from the holiday lessons!! I joined the physics cafe weekly lessons early in J2. I attended the J1 December holiday lessons too. I would say that I’m about 95% ready for the A levels. I would need to expose myself to more questions to be fully prepared. I would prefer to join from the start of J1 if I could turn back time. Pretty sure Physics cafe will maintain their standards 🙂 Yes, I would highly recommend my friends!! Especially those who don’t seem to work well with school teaching styles.

Tay Yee Cheng Jermaine , SRJC

I got an A for my A level physics paper and I’m very satisfied with my grade. Lessons at The Physics Cafe have been extremely beneficial to me in my learning of the subject. Lessons here challenges students and trains them to think quickly. To my juniors, I feel that The Physics Cafe has very good tutors, and do not worry if you are not doing well currently. Have faith in yourself, and believe in the tutor’s plan. In addition, the tutors are very approachable, so do not be afraid to approach them to enquire your doubts. I strongly recommend my juniors to join The Physics Cafe, and all the best for your A levels!

Ryan Lai , SRJC

Mr Dave Sim is the best physics teacher in the world I promise you!! He makes physics so exciting with all his secret teaching techniques and yes I definitely will recommend The Physics Cafe to everybody

Tomio , PJC

The notes from the physics cafe are really concise and covers all types of exam questions. It helps me to recall the right and most efficient method to solve the question and I am able to reduce my revision time by 75%. In the physics cafe, i also learn to answer qualitative questions with ease and now i am more confident of tackling such questions whenever i see them. I will definitely recommend the physics cafe to all my friends taking the subject. Thanks Mr Sim!

Xin Min , PJC

Physics cafe heavy emphasis of problem solving and making sure people have a good grasp of core concepts, have help us save time. Unlike schools which spend time on irrelevant concepts and the structuring of notes is very messy.

Lim Guan Kiat , PJC

The Physics Cafe has been a monumental help in my journey as a JC student. The notes provided are adequate, understandable and greatly speed up learning and understanding of a topic. Mr Sim provides comprehensive care for all his students and motivates us through many ways. For instance, he gives us quizzes after lessons sometimes, which greatly enhances our learning experience. The JC2 2014 cohort at The Physics Cafe is very well-versed in Physics concepts, therefore, they would be able to excel. Lastly, The Physics Cafe’s interesting methods definitely would allow students to better grasp Physics concepts. I would strongly recommend my friends to join it!

Jamie Lim , PJC

The physics booklet contains condensed concepts and equation that allows me to have a big picture of what is going on within each topic and how topics are interconnected. Furthermore, the concepts are clearer for certain hard topics than the notes given in school. It allows me to learn more efficiently and focus on topics that i am weaker in so that i can improve at a faster rate. The lessons also clear doubts on questions that i have in mind in certain topics and this allows me to have a better understanding of physics, a subject which i did not do well from the start of the year in JC1. I would definitely introduce my friends to Physics Cafe!

Charles Quek Koh Wee , PJC

I feel that my physics has definitely improved and I have reached a stage where I can help my friends understand certain things. I need better time management but physics cafe has definitely helped me interpret questions better. I also notice all the efforts made to make the physics cafe a very convenient place and am appreciative of it.

Venugopal Bhargav , PJC

I managed to understand concepts I used to find difficult much easily due to the concise notes and lectures. I was also able to learn the fastest approach and methods to solve certain questions which will make a difference during the paper itself! The examples in the notes and other materials have overall increased my confidence in sitting for the paper. The lessons in physics cafe is very different from school lectures with the smaller class size and also lots of engagement with the lecturer. I will definitely recommend The Physics Cafe to my friends.

Rashmiga Gunasekaran , PJC

The tutor placed a lot of emphasis on how to face different types of questions and also exposed us to a wide range of questions to boost our confidence. Step by step approaches to questions have helped me a lot in solving the problems. Maths Cafe is very different from school lectures due to smaller class size which means more attention for the students. We are also able to raise our questions without feeling embarrassed. I will definitely recommend The Maths Cafe to my friends.

Rashmiga Gunasekaran , PJC

Physics Cafe lessons are so much more detailed than other tuition centres and are much more precise, it helps me to quickly revise the important concepts! I joined physics cafe a little late into the year and I would have definitely joined earlier if I could. Yes, because physics cafe is a great place to learn to like physics in the easiest way 🙂

Sneha Sivakumar , PJC

I attended PMC because I felt that I was lacking the practice and skillsets to maintain my grades. PMC provides very concise notes as well as detailed analysis of the problems and which method is the fastest and less prone to errors. I really like that PMC offers digital lessons and free drinks. It provides a conducive and flexible study environment. The student councillors are also very friendly 🙂 I joined PMC during August after the June Holidays and yet, I feel well prepared for the exam currently. Of course, if given the choice, I’d join PMC earlier so that maths would be a breeze and I would be able to focus on my other subjects. I believe that the results of the students relies solely on their own effort. Although the teachers (Mr Leong & Mr Tan!!!) are very caring and helpful in answering my questions and clearing my doubts, they can only help to a certain extent. It is the student’s mindset to tackling the questions and responsibility to work hard and be disciplined to help them secure their distinction. Although the tuition fees are not cheap, the quality of teaching provided is excellent! (And also free drinks, snacks, foolscap!!)

Matilda Woo , PJC

I joined The Physics Cafe after mid-years this year because I have been getting S grade since the start of J2 and had to improve my physics grade. I really like the summarised notes and formulas because it makes revision easier. I like how the tutor engages us during lessons by getting us to share our answers to better gauge the possible answers that we will choose, and common mistakes made. the tutor is also approachable, and I can clear my doubts after the lesson ends. I would have preferred to join PMC earlier as I might have gotten a higher grade for physics in both mid-year and prelim. The questions in the tests exposed me to different types of questions in different chapters so I can tackle such questions.

Jacqueline Khung Hui Lin , PJC

My grade for physics was constantly a S during the whole of J1 and the start of J2 when I was on my own, and despite having joined after common test in J2 (and going for intensive crash courses at 9 in the morning twice a week) I still achieved a S in MYE. Don’t be disheartened if you do not see results as soon as you join, it takes time to see results. I still consistently went for lessons at PMC and eventually jumped 3 grades (C) for my latest preliminary exam. I would have never expected myself to have this much of a jump but I’m really thankful to the tutors it did, and I definitely wish I had joined earlier. Nevertheless, I am confident that PMC will help me to constantly improve and eventually achieve better grade for A levels.

Kim Na Hyun , PJC

I felt that before coming to PMC, Physics and Maths were just interesting subjects which I could pass or fail in in a random fashion. But this tuition centre, honestly, opened my eyes to the huge sea of information which I could learn and apply in my academics which were not even touched upon in my JC. I truly developed a passion for academics. The facilities at PMC were off the roof, with free drinks and VERY cheap snacks, it made me feel at home whenever I chose to study there. I joined PMC when I was in J1, before my June holidays. I have improved in my understanding of the topics so much from then till now. A lot of the students at the PMC are naturally smart. But, there is nothing stopping you from getting your As if you are prepared to work hard for them.

Vijayanarayanan Sai Arunavan , PJC

From a range of 1 to 10, with 1 and 10 being successful and extremely successful respectively, I would rate a 10.Concepts are explained to us more clearly in the centre, while tutors in the school often skip some important concepts and expect us to ‘think about them ourselves’ without providing any hints or how to approach such concepts. The skills of problem-solving have also been imparted to us quite clearly, which is also one area in which our school lacks in providing. Overall, though it was a short 2-3 months, I find it to be a joyous ride and I would definitely recommend Physics Cafe to my juniors.

Daniel Leong , NYJC

The Physics Cafe has adopted teaching methods that are very conceptual and application based, making sure that students thoroughly understand the topic and know how to apply in to answer questions, including grade A questions. I would prefer such a teaching style as it is more straightforward and to the point so that students know what we need to know about the topic. I would definitely recommend my friends to the Physics Cafe.

Jie Xiang , NYJC

Mr Sim simplifies concepts and even finds shortcuts for us to attempt questions quickly and with great accuracy. He also reinforces important concept that we need to know so that we will remember them better and know which ones to focus on. I’m glad that i joined The Physics Cafe and I’ll definitely recommend it to my friends!! 🙂

Sara Ng Wei , NYJC

I feel that the major difference between the The Physics Cafe and my school is that the Cafe is able guide students towards solving a problem and the concept behind it. Hence, with schools focusing on teaching the syllabus and the Cafe teaching the different types of answering techniques and questions types, the student will be successful and well prepared for his paper. Since I have experienced the effectiveness of the Cafe first hand, I will definitely recommand my friends or juniors to join The Physics Café

Tan Yong Siah , NYJC

I think that the problem solving notes are really helpful as it provides a systematic approach towards the question and allows me to understand the question better. With a better understanding of the question, I can then solve the question unlike the past whereby I failed to understand the hints the question gave. I feel that the time spent in The Physics Cafe allows me to learn the concept more and understand them much clearly as opposed to the lectures that I have always failed to understand in school. Yes I definitely will.

Jun Wen , NYJC

I feel that The Physics Cafe is successful in helping students understand concepts as the tutor ensure that we are exposed to all types of questions and the notes such as The Physics Secret Enclosed is extremely useful in helping students recap certain topics just before the exam. Also, I would like to thank Mr Sim from pushing me all the way from a U before I join till a C today. His patience and guidance definitely make a difference to my grades. I will recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe!

Tan Jing Han , NYJC

The Physics Café is the best Physics tuition center in Singapore! Mr Sim tackle many more topics in a single lesson instead of just focusing on a few which could be very tiresome. It encompasses every type of question the examiner could possibly test and thorough process is given as to how to solve such problems. I would ask my friends to join The Physics cafe, if you want to guarantee an ‘A’ in physics at A level, you should join 🙂

Gary Ong , NYJC

I would certainly recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe. It is a unique gift of an individual (Mr Dave Sim) to be able to present Physics in such a simplistic manner. Despite joining Mr Dave Sim’s class late into my J2 year, the weekly lessons made a tremendous impact on my grades and gave me confidence for my upcoming exams. What I absolutely love about his lessons is that he makes an effort to ask every student questions and this definitely helped me pinpoint my weak areas

Tan Pek Nan John , Favourite , NYJC

I feel that I have definitely grasped a better understanding of physics concepts after each lesson. Even though results do not show now, I believe that my understanding will be reflected in the A levels. Thank you Mr Sim for making lessons understanding of concepts easy and building my confidence each time I do not do well for my exams.

Jenna , NYJC

The notes given by physics cafe is very concise and i find it very helpful to read as a reminder before the paper because unlike school lecture notes which you cannot finish reading even half the syllabus in a day, physics cafe notes are straightforward and short but have all the marking points. I only joined physics cafe in j2 march which i felt was a pity because if i had joined earlier, i would have a stronger physics foundation and also i would not have spent so much time trying to digest my lecture notes and barely understanding the chapter at the end of the day. Even though i was with physics cafe for less than a year, i feel that my physics foundation is better now and i can do questions faster so i can finish the paper in the stipulated time. I’d definitely tell my juniors to join physics cafe and i hope i can do Mr Sim proud at A levels!

Cheryl Ng , NYJC

I have definitely improved in terms of confidence and logical based skills for all the Physics papers I’ve sit ever since. Even when I’m not in my best state of mind or have not studied fully, I will still be able to attain a reasonable result because the concepts are delivered so clearly that it can be easily understood and remembered. The questions given helped to build on the concepts and it really took lesser time to solve those questions during the actual exams because of all the shortest techniques being taught. I love how our welfare is so well taken care of and the learning experience is maximised so as to ensure tuition can be fun and interesting too unlike the usual thought that tuition is boring and time-consuming. Every minute matters to the tuition centre and the students have definitely benefitted from that because we take the minimum time to learn all the concepts and we are trained to digest and unpack information really quickly, I <<>love it. I feel that I can rely on the tuition centre entirely for Physics and can thus put aside so much more time on my other weaker subjects and I am really glad at this advantage I have over my schoolmates. I am now ever more prepared to get that highly sought after A for A levels physics.

Brandon Chen , NYJC

I am definitely more confident in Physics after the June Holiday workshop as the skills I acquired were very useful in helping me solve challenging questions. The main difference between lessons at PMC and my school is that they zoom in on the important details and techniques and attempts challenging questions on the spot. I would strongly recommend the Physics Cafe to my friends!

Cheong Lee Son , NYJC

Lessons in the Physics Cafe is really filled with excitement for me as the thrill of learning new concepts in a rather soothing atmosphere is pleasant. I really enjoy the fact that we are tested on concepts we just acquired, and the refreshment lessons are really helpful in helping us recall past concepts. Overall, I would highly recommend PMC to my friends!

Cheong Lee Son , NYJC

Lessons at physics cafe has always been interesting and insightful. Physics has always been the subject I feared most, and physics cafe has allowed me to love the subject more every lesson. If I can go back in time, I would definitely join earlier. I have recommended physics cafe to my friends and will still do.

Charmaine Koh , NYJC

I will recommend my friends for physics cafe as it is the best tuition that I have ever been to. It provides many useful questions that have helped me have a better grasp of all the topics in physics. Moreover, the teachers are kind and understanding and are willing to answer any questions that we have with the utmost confidence. I believe that the percentage of students receiving an A in physics will only continue to increase as the tuition offers grade A questions that can ensure that we have the best understanding for all topics in physics.

Roydon , NYJC

I decided to try PMC which was recommended by 2 of my friends as i needed help for physics at the start of J2. I think that the class environment is very conducive for studying and the teacher’s method of teaching with his working and notes that are clear, concise and effective in helping me organise the large amount of physics knowledge that I must remember. I would have joined earlier if I heard of PMC earlier.

Claira Chiw , NYJC

Firstly, I am very self-motivated as I really believe in my abilities. Even though I did poorly for Mid years, I gathered my thoughts and told myself to work even harder for Prelims. I joined PMC last year June during the crash course in j1 and I feel that I joined at just the right time. I am really thankful for my tutor, Mr Dave Sim, as he is really good at simplifying complex questions into easier questions.

Cheong Lee Som , NYJC

I joined the physics cafe around June holidays in J1 as I felt that I could not understand the necessary concepts. Physics cafe has allowed me to grasp these concepts much easily. This helped to regain my confidence in this subject. I also found the summary notes really useful in summarising vital concepts. Physics cafe provides a range of possible questions that may be tested for each topic. Later in J2 year, we will be taught answering skills for grade A questions. Furthermore, the vending machine which provides drinks for free and snacks really help us stay refreshed. Thank you physics cafe! 🙂

Wong Wen Yi , NYJC

I got the A….I felt that I did really well, especially for the planning question. The Physics Cafe helped me understand the topics in depth, not just surface learning, and to take control of situations where I would have normally panicked, and answer really odd questions by keeping calm and remember that whatever they test, we have already learnt them. We have to just look from a different angle and tackle the challenging questions from another point of view

Brendan Chen , MJC

The Physic Cafe has helped me to tackle various exam question in which Mr Dave Sim have trained us to. I am able to better recognized the questions and able to answer the questions in exam better. The Physics Secret Enclosed is definitely of great help where it help us to recognize the questions with reference to the booklet and we know which part of the topic is tested and what are the steps/formula to answer such question. It is very different from the school lectures notes where everything is of whole chunk of information and not summarized. I would recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe as it had made physics much more enjoyable and bearable subject.

Yap Jia Ji , MJC

I learnt how to tackle A grade questions alot better as Mr Sim taught us many different SOPs; especially for the often out of syllabus data handling questions, I learnt to break down the question and assimilate its ideas and string together new concepts to answer it. The practices that I do in class helps us to digest the relevant concepts and understand them to a deeper level; explanations are very clear and helps me to understand challenging questions. Time trails aids us in managing our time and to complete questions within the time frame, this has helped me a lot since MYEs as I wasn’t able to complete the paper then, whereas I could in the prelims.

Brendan Chen , MJC

From the point of someone who does not find physics largely interesting, I have to say Mr. Sim’s classes are always interesting. I espescially found his lecture notes helpful because he combines the important parts of the topic together with an array of questions. Mr. Sim was always more than happy to explain topics repeatedly until his students have grasped the concept sufficently and is ready to hang back after class to answer questions and clarify doubts. His tution classes, concept maps and regular class tests helped me pull my physics grade from an S to an A. Thanks Mr. Sim!

Thara Nair , MJC

The Physics Cafe really helped me a lot on improving my physics. From not being clear with the concepts to know exactly what the question is trying to test. I am really fortunate to be able to attend classes in the Physics Cafe to know more about physics and the fun of it ! The main difference between lessons in The Physics Cafe as compared to school and other tuition center is its thoroughly summarized notes with clearly defined concepts. Most importantly, Mr Sim has the ability to analyze and explain the question and concepts in a much more simpler way that makes answering question much easier. He is also able to give interesting examples to help us imagine the scenario to understand better! I will definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe! It’s really beneficial ! I would also like to thank Mr Sim for being such an awesome physics tutor and for all the things and efforts you have done for us. Thank you so much !

Jasmine , MJC

Lessons at the Physics Cafe are unlike any normal mundane lessons in classroom and you’ll always look forward to attend his lessons. Thursday has always been a day I look forward to since the day I joined the physics cafe. Mr sim is very charismatic and encouraging tutor. He made physics lessons very interesting and every laws and principles just fall in the right place. The experience in physics cafe is a very fruitful and enjoyable one and will definitely miss them..Thank you mr sim!! You’ll be missed! :))

Samantha Loke , MJC

I would say that the centre has been very successful in implementing techniques so that students are able to score in their exams as compared to their peers. What can be improved would be having more questions of grade A standard so that students can get experienced to the full blow of A levels.Firstly and I would think most importantly many physics tutors in my school treat physics as a dead subject. They feel that it is something just like secondary school where stuffing information to us would suffice. However, in the Physics cafe, physics is alive(: we can see how something actually works and clears the many doubts that we might possess in secondary school where information is stuffed into us. Secondly I would feel that the physics cafe has very concise notes that makes the students interested in dng more of physics. Be it due to the small size of the booklets or the fact that we are dng so many mcqs, something is clearly working there.I would definitely want to recommend my friends to join the physics cafe.

Ng Yan Lun , MJC

The Physics Cafe definitely helped me to start to understand the concepts of physics that I had always thought as “senseless” and “useless”. At the same time, Mr Sim has actually made me more interested in physics. It’s definitely the right choice to choose The Physics Cafe as no 1 tuition centre option 🙂

Eliza Ng Sue Ying , MJC

Before I entered this tuition, I thought I had known everything about Physics. However, the first test I got back was a dismal 5 out of 25. It brought me to this cruel reality that in junior college, physics is not that simple as just “applying the formula” anymore. In fact, it is so much more than that. Thanks to some online research, I was able to find The Physics Cafe and I never regretted for a moment joining it. My Physics immediately shot up to a borderline pass at the next major examination and I was surprised by how much I had actually not known. Mr Sim is not only a great teacher, but he has made learning both fun and easy to remember. Through him, I have learnt so much more than what my school lecture notes can possibly hope to have. It was always tiring for him during Saturday morning as he only has a 1 hour break before the next lesson. However, he still stayed back to help many of the JC2s who have urgent questions that require him for help. Without him, I shudder to think what would have happened to my physics. With him, I am confident and approach papers with the belief that I have the ability to conquer almost any question. Thank you Mr Sim!(:

Ng Yan Lun , MJC

scored an A for physics and I would really have to admit TPC played a huge role in this result. TPC may not have been the most cost savvy option for tuition but I definitely do not regret choosing TPC. It is just worth it. I believe what sets TPC apart from other centres is the quality of the notes. It gives plenty of notes but they are concise and easy to read everywhere. The tutor is also passionate about the subject and it definitely helps to have someone enthusiastic teach you in lessons that can be rather lengthy sometimes. The questions given in lessons are also difficult and is definitely more challenging than the average questions given in schools allowing you to have the confidence during exams.

Jonathan Lim , MJC

I definitely would not regret my choice attending The Physics Cafe. Despite starting tuition later than most of my peers, I would say that I have learnt alot thus far. Lessons are at a comfortable pace enabling me to be able to understand the lesson and each chapters taught well. Distance may be hassle as I live in the east, but it is definitely worth the trip and I can truthfully say that I have learnt something new in every lesson since attending classes here. I would definitely recommend this tuition to my friends.

Jonathan Lim Ming En , MJC

The Physics Cafe makes very effective notes that really does cover almost all of the important things we need to do well for our exams. The exposure to many types of questions also helps to drill us for our exams and gives us the confidence to tackle any sort of question. They also train us to solve the questions as quickly as possible which definitely helps us to manage our time better during the exams. I really appreciate all the extra services like shuttle buses, free food and free drinks provided by the cafe! Also, the cafe library is a really conducive place for self study.

Reiko Tan , MJC

I feel more confident in answering Physics questions as I know the problem solving techniques and also what to look out for in each question. The Physics Cafe has both basic and challenging questions to ensure that the students know the basic fundamentals as well as know how to apply such skills to the more challenging questions. I enjoy the services that come with the Physics Cafe.

Nur Diana Nordin , MJC

The notes that I got from physics cafe is so clear, concise and comprehensive. It is a one-stop solution to all my physics problems. It gives a great overview of the syllabus and saved me a lot of time during revision. During lessons Mr Sim is so well prepared, he clears any possible doubts I may have, making it seem almost like he can read my mind. This ensures the rapid pace of the lesson, making the 2 hours spend as fruitful as possible. With the revision leading up to A’lvls I’m confident that I’m able to do well, just like the all the other students here.

Ng Geng Jui , MJC

The Physics cafe lessons were unique to its centre. Mr Dave Sim took on a rather concise and succinct method of approach when explaining concepts and brought along the same style of teaching when solving questions. There was a clear system in how lessons were organised and catered to aid in our preparation, from topical revisions to exposing us to integrated and “A grade” questions. The way Mr Sim taught us changed my perspective of physics as a subject and made it seem much less intimidating than it was since secondary school days, and changed my previous approach to physics questions to a clearer and efficient one. On another note, the centre has very nice free crackers. Please bring back the milo dispenser 🙁 the milo was so good. I would recommend my friends to join TPC

Elizabeth Wong , MJC

The questions are mostly higher order and I think that’s good as it can prepare me better for exams. But, as my physics is weak, so I struggle a little catching up with the class. Overall, I benefitted from the lessons and will recommend my juniors who stay in the central to start early.

Wong Yock Teng , MJC

I have enjoyed my time at The Physics Cafe as the lessons were very engaging and fun. The Cafe had a very conducive environment and the tutor was able to explain complex concepts in a clear and easy-to-understand way. I will recommend my friends to the physics cafe as I believe it will greatly benefit them too.

Dallen Lim , MJC

Mr Sim has really helped me for physics for the A levels H2 Physics. Though I’ve only attended his lessons from April JC2, he taught me almost everything I knew about physics. I’ve learned more in the few months leading up to the A levels than the two years in school. I would really like to thank him for salvaging my physics, and I truly hope I can share the good news with him when I get my results.

Samson Chan , JJC

Physics used to be a subject that I fared poorly in. The Physics Cafe has helped me understand and apply the various Physics concepts that I previously could not grasp. Lessons are more hands-on as compared to school lectures and notes are more summarized and easy to comprehend. I will definitely recommend friends with difficulty in grasping Physics concepts to join.

Jeremy Tang , JJC

The lessons in The Physics Cafe are different from other tuitions that I have attended before as it is very engaging and focused. I find it useful and I feel more confident as Mr Sim paces us to do the A level papers as well as sharing his own solutions with us. I hope that there will be a timed mock paper for us before the A levels so that we can give ourselves a final check on areas that we still lacked and improve on it.

Chen Jingwen , JJC

The Physics Cafe’s summaries have helped me a lot in preparation before exams! Thanks Mr. Sim.

Akshita Ravi , JJC

The Physics Cafe experience has been especially life-changing towards my attitude and interest towards Physics. Before attending TPC, I hardly had any motivation to do physics & would always shun it aside. However, with the help of TPC & Mr Sim’s step-by-step guidance, physics has become fun & interesting! The concepts explained are very concise & drills on your understanding of the subject, which is very important to succeed in physics, which some other centers do not really deliver! I am so thankful to have joined the physics cafe & would definitely recommend it to my friends! Thank you Mr Sim!! Cohort of 2014 will do well & make you proud!

Renitta Thomas , JJC

The June holiday workshop has made me more confident about physics. I have also seen improvements in my results. The Physics Cafe has helped me to stretch time from the selected questions and fast overview of every chapter. It was also thorough in the coverage of the syllabus. Lastly, I enjoy the facilities available.

Ow Yong Hei Ee , JJC

I really appreciate all the effort and time spent by Mr Sim in ensuring that we will be able to maximise the time spent during lessons. Physics concepts have certainly been made much more easier to understand. Hopefully we will be able to do well for physics during the A levels and do Mr Sim proud!

Justin Hong , JJC

The Maths Cafe has definitely helped me a lot in gearing me up to tackle challenging questions that aren’t typical/standard. This allowed me to gain more confidence in tackling any type of questions at hand and to hopefully attain >80 for the paper. The Secrets Enclosed Notes are also very useful as a form of summary for the whole syllabus and it really helped me in maintaining my A for Maths ever since I joined TPC and thereafter scoring even better than before I joined. Prelims had been tough and getting not only an A, but also somewhat my best Math results in J2 was a blessing and a booster for A levels. By scoring better in my H2 Maths, it also helped me in my H3 Maths (MOE) which I am currently undertaking.

Koh Wen Hao , JJC

Physics cafe has compiled the syllabus into The Secret Enclosed booklet, and that made revision very easy for us. Having attended lessons at physics cafe made me understand more about the subject and enable me to widen my exposure to different types of questions I wouldn’t be expose to in school. The digital lessons are very useful as well, as I will still be able to attend a lesson I miss few weeks ago ! The free shuttle bus and drinks provided by physics cafe ensured that the students welfare are taken care of, and that’s really nice of them 🙂

Cheng Xin Ying , JJC

Compared to school it actually fluctuates. sometimes when my sch touches the topic first and i dont understand, then when I attend PMC I use it as a re-visit and try to understand. similarly, if PMC touches the topic first then may not understand and will use school lectures as a re-visit. So I use both to strengthen my understanding of the topic. I like free drinks and I like my friend hahahahaha. but i don’t like the 2018 timingssss omg the timings so weirddddd 9am and 4.30pm. I LOVE <3 Toa Payoh branchhhhhh :C. idk if the further travelling to Novena, Paya Lebar and Beauty World will be advantageous to my studies. Toa Payoh is super convenient, and my grandpa stays there so its fittingggg but sad next year no more tpy. I joined in J1. hmmm actually before I got private tuition for Amath in sec4, my cousin recommended me PMC but cause my foundation sibei bad, so I didn’t want to join a class since what difference would it make to in school where I am already a blur sotong and failing math. so nope I think JC was a good start.

Daphne Tan Yue Ying , JJC

I am self-motivated and was not forced to come for tuition. In fact, I was the one who convinced my mom to allow me to go for tuition after doing badly in J1 term. I’m attending lessons as I find it easier to understand PMC notes compared to my school’s. E.g. for sequences and series, I don’t refer to my school notes and just revise the few pages of notes that the revision packages contain, and I find it sufficient. I like the digital lessons because I need not replace the lesson within the week itself and I can do it when I have the time instead of trying to make it on time for the make-up classes. I joined PMC in J1 term 2 and I think the timing I joined was just right. I think some students in PMC are naturally quite smart but also most are naturally self-motivated and disciplined to learn. Tuition fees at PMC are indeed not cheap especially since PMC is a class-based tuition instead of individual.

Daphne Tan , JJC

Physics cafe made physics easier and a more interesting subject to study. The materials provided are concise and informative, making the use of materials organized and easy for memorizing.

Sim Kim Teck , JJC

I was scoring consistently grades of below D, and did very badly in physics as i was unable to grasp the concepts of the chapters. However, things began to take a turn for the better when Mr Sim started teaching me. My grades jumped from Es and Ds to As and Bs! which is a drastic improvement for me. My understanding of the topics became very much clearer, and instead of just scoring in physics, I was able to understand physics better and embraced the subject. Mr Sim is a very responsible teacher, and even became a friend to me, even after my A levels.

Dragg , CJC

I highly recommend Mr.Sim simply because Physics is made as easy as ABC in every sense of the phrase, he will enlighten you on what is the underlying concept behind the concept that you learn in school he explains how certain formulaes are derived from with the pure basics and at a pace that anyone may understand so listen up people! Anyone who wants to do well in physics yet they can’t do it on their own, find Mr.Sim and he will ensure that you get the basics right and have the foundation to tackle the harder, more complex concepts of physics. All hail Lord Dave!

Tan Ying Hong , CJC

Notes given to us are concise and useful. I like the summary behind every chapter that really focus on the important parts of that chapter. The secrets enclosed booklet have also help a lot as that is the booklet where we know all the crucial points to take note of and it has been summarised very neatly. Thank you for helping me understand Physics much better than I ever had.

Shiuan Yen , CJC

The Physics Cafe’s notes were really great, I never looked at my tutorials again. Everything was covered in the graduating booklet. Lessons in The Physics Cafe are far more interesting and easier to pay attention to than in my school. Mr Sim is a great teacher and a dedicated one. Will definitely miss him. Everyone taking physics should go for The Physics Cafe! It’s a good way to strengthen concepts and do well for physics.

Jason Wong , CJC

I feel that the notes are extremely concise and good because it rly helps with the answering skills during the exam. Mr Sim has also really helped to boost the confidence i never had with respect to physics – I haven’t been doing well since secondary school. Even though I only joined in June when I was in JC2, The Physics Cafe has helped me in terms of answering questions and strengthening my concepts. It’s really different from lessons conducted in school because of the details and skills Mr Sim goes into which has really benefited me. I will definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe!

Kimberly Chew , CJC

Before I attended The Physics Cafe, I was scoring pretty badly for physics. There was always not enough time for me to complete the paper as the questions were always so demanding. Well, that was before I joined The Physics Cafe. Ever since I started attending Mr Sim’s lesson, I realized that the questions which I thought was demanding was actually quite simple. There’s always a definite method for solving the different question types. Plus, Mr Sim also teaches us how to solve questions as quickly as possible. Now, I’m scoring my As and Bs for all my major physics examinations, mainly As. I will definitely recommend The Physics Cafe to my family and friends.

Chen Yi Hong , CJC

I have understood much more in the few weeks of going for physics cafe than I learnt in my 2 years in school. Thanks Mr Sim for your guidance! Your jokes and the free coffee helped me to stay awake to grasp the complicated concepts which I failed to comprehend in school. I used to fail physics but now I’m performing much better, one of the top few in my class

Matthew Wong , CJC

Hello Mr Sim! I just want to thank you for making physics so easy and reviving my love for the subject. When I first entered junior college two years ago I wasn’t sure whether or not to take physics or biology and this was especially frustrating because both were subjects that I loved. I decided to go with physics despite being slightly stronger in the latter because the courses I wanted to take were linked to it. It was a decision I largely regretted in my first year because no matter how hard I triedI never could do well in the subject. I didn’t understand what went wrong, I listened to lectures, handed in all my tutorials, rushed through assessment books and tys papers(even in the first year) and I was still failing. It just didn’t add up. I managed to stay afloat though, and hence didnt engage the services of Mr Sim until year two where I joined in the June workshop because I was really in an emergency situation. Honestly, I was a little reluctant to go for Mr Sim’s class at first even after a friend told me about all the magic that he managed to perform for physics.I have attended tuition classes in secondary school before and I have had my fair share of bad tutors who never really helped me at all. Most seemed like an extension of school (or sometimes worse) and I didnt believe that the physics cafe was any different. That all changed however when I attended the first lesson of the workshop. Within 15 minutes of the lesson I learnt something new about the first topic which I thought I was a master in. Throughout the workshop my physics standard has certainly improved much and topics which I was weak at suddenly became easy and I found many misconceptions in the topics I thought I was strong in. By the end of it, I felt ready to take on the exams and that was when I decided to attend his normal lessons as well. Mr Sim has an amazing way of linking all the topics together and when the A Levels finally came physics wasnt a bundle of topics it was one big subject that I had finally gained confidence for. I would highly recommend Mr Sim to anyone who is taking physics at the JC level because he is a really good teacher and I’m not the kind to praise others easily so I really mean it.

Heng Kun Qiang Amos , CJC

Mr Sim uses many different programs and analogies to explain concepts. He introduces many methods to solve really challenging questions. I really like his crystal clear explanations whenever he teaches us a new concept. He is a really passionate and caring teacher.

Darryl Tanujoyo , CJC

I personally believe that the physics cafe has allowed me to have a clearer idea of the different kinds of questions and concepts that can be tested for every topic. And through all these lessons, i honestly think that I’ve improved by a fair bit since i joined because back in JC1 physics was like a guessing game whereby I used any formula from the back of my head, hoping to get the answer right, which usually doesn’t happen. After every lesson that I attend, I truly gain more confidence in Physics, as everything that seemed so difficult at first starts to get a little easier. And that If I were left on my own to study, I would probably spend hours and hours trying to figure it out. The difference between Physics cafe and my school is that everything is different. My teacher in school likes to dwell on a question for extended period of time. For example, he went through 1 Quantum MCQ from 2007 paper for more than an hour, not kidding. Sometimes, at the end of the lesson I’ll be equally or even more confused than before. However at Physics Cafe, I constantly feel on task and that Mr Sim is able to explain everything in a very different way such that things do seem easier, and the things that I learn in 1 lesson can equate to what I learn in a 2 weeks in school. Also, I believe that the grade A questions that we do weekly has allowed me to have a stronger skill in problem solving, and not just stare at the question empty mindedly. Honestly, the people at Physics Cafe definitely have a stronger grasp of concepts, and most are able to solve questions at a faster and more efficient way, as a result of the time practices that we’ve gone through.

Koh Jia Qian , CJC

Mr Sim is a very spot-on teacher who knows exactly the common misconceptions that students have in certain topics. The emphasis he placed on exams-smart techniques have helped me a lot in being more confident in answering questions too! His notes have certainly helped me in being able to consolidate all the information for each topic.

Wong Mun Fong , CJC

The past two years with Mr Sim certainly was an enjoyable time! Physics in JC certainly became a breeze when my teachers went through concepts that I had already learnt at The Physics Cafe! The Physics Cafe does a great job in introducing the Secrets Enclosed booklet, which definitely helps students save time, in terms of looking for formulas. The Physics Cafe supplies loads of useful and necessary materials to help students, but only if they choose to do the work that is given. For me, I live very close to The Physics Cafe, so I am glad that I don’t have to spend too long travelling. Neither do I have to take so much time to revise physics as a whole. Physics cafe certainly gets to the points that you need to score instead of overloading you with basic examples that do not really test your understanding of concepts but application of formulas, which is not what exams really test. Peers in The Physics Cafe are more relaxed I would say, since we all know the secrets and tricks behind some of the questions, while others may have to struggle a bit harder than us to do well in Physics. I definitely think that the JC2 cohort of 2014 will do well (gut feeling). If my friends do need help with physics, I definitely recommend that they join the Physics Cafe!

Benjamin Lee , CJC

The Physics Cafe provides short and concise notes for us to easily grasp Physics concept unlike those long and detailed notes provided by the school. I manage to understand Physics concepts better within a 2-hour long lesson at The Physics Café than 3 sessions of lectures in school. Mr Sim brings across ideas easily to us and makes learning of physics interesting. Without Physics Cafe, I would not be able to see the progress in my Physics grades! With effort, I believe that the 2014 JC2 will be achieving their desired goals. I will definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe!

Samantha Hong Hui Lee , CJC

The Physics Cafe is an excellent place for anyone looking for help in physics. Mr Sim really helps you grasp the concept of the topic from day one. And he doesn’t stop there. He goes on and teaches exam techniques and problem solving strategies. This makes a big difference when tackling a hard question as it helps me break it up into smaller sections and then answer it step by step. It also boost your confidence in tackling a variety of questions. I struggled in school tutorials as there was no emphasis on answering techniques, which Mr Sim focuses greatly on and this makes a big difference in the final exam. He puts time and effort into his notes and selects good questions. He ensures that we grasp the ability to solve even the most difficult of questions.I would definitely recommend anyone struggling with Physics to join The Physics Cafe! It’ll make a big difference in your perspective of physics. Thank you Mr Sim for everything!

Rashaad Khan , CJC

Mr Sim is by far the best physics teacher one could ever meet. Before I came to the physics cafe, I was not confident in solving difficult qns. However, Mr Sim’s approach to such questions really helped me gain my confidence to tackle such questions. He also explained concept’s really well and his problem solving strategies helped me built up my confidence in physics as my foundation in physics was already very poor. He puts in a lot of effort into his notes while also selecting good questions for us to grasp the concepts of the topic. I was elated when I scored an A for physics and I only have Mr Sim to thank for it. Thank you so much Mr Sim! I would definitely recommend anyone having trouble with physics to join the Physics cafe. It’ll make a difference in the way you look at physics, just like it did for me

Rashaad Khan , CJC

At first, I didn’t really want a physics tuition because since primary school, the only subject I need tuition in was English but ever since I got into JC, I never really got a grade that is close to distinction and I lost motivation in many aspects especially physics because I never really understood what was taught in lectures or tutorials. However, it all changed when I joined The Physics Cafe as Mr Sim was able to explain everything so clearly and systematically that everything seems so simple! I always look forward to his lessons as I know I will learn something useful ranging from understanding the contents to how to effectively use what you know to tackle those grade A questions. Not only can I catch up to my classmates in school, I also gained lots of confidence in answering difficult questions. I would definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe as it is really effective in pulling up my grades.

Lin Jun Jie , CJC

I scored an A for Physics A level and i am really happy about it. The lessons in The Physics Cafe has been really helpful especially when the lessons are always well paced and easy to understand. The thing that makes the tuition experience better is that questions are asked and needs to be answered quickly as we do not want to look stupid in a class full of smart people. This really pushed us to think quickly and think smarter since giving the wrong answer is really embarrassing. The best advice for any subject including Physics is to make sure you know all the possible types of questions that may come out and the only why to do that is to keep on practicing. I would recommend anyone to join The Physics Cafe if they want to secure an A for Physics

Pak Jun Wei , CJC

The Physics Cafe is really helpful in splitting each topic into parts and what are the different types of questions that will come out which makes us confident going into the exams. Having a guide to answer questions also has us stay calm when we see tougher questions.

I also saved a lot of time in The Physics Cafe as difficult concepts that will take me hours to understand by myself can be explain within minutes with simple ideas here.

In The Physics Cafe, just being there gives you a strange motivation to do well among people of other JCs especially the better ones. You are also trained to think quickly to answer the question until equations start popping out in your head within seconds.

My peers here in The Physics Cafe are way more serious in lessons and are confident in themselves with is nice to see as compared to in CJC where people are really laid back.

The JC2 cohort will definitely do as well or even better than the previous year.

I will recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe as everything is made simple even the most difficult concepts which really help.

Pak Jun Wei , CJC

Attending physics cafe definitely helped me to learn the concepts much faster and I’ve stopped using my school notes as physics cafe notes are much more concise and to the point. One thing that can be improved would be to include more qualitative question in the daily dose so as to get more exposure to more questions. The tutors are very successful as in class we rarely have to ask questions as all the potential doubts that we have are all explained by Mr Sim before we even need to put up our hands to ask. All the extra services provided are very good as not many tuition Centres care about the wellbeing of their students hence it is a great initiative on the Centres part to care for its students. I started joining in the first half of the year in J1 and I think I am ready to a certain extent. I would have joined earlier when I was in secondary school as my foundation for physics is very weak as I did not attend any tuition during secondary school. I would most definitely be recommening my friends to join The Physics Cafe.

Mark Ng , CJC

I joined The Physics Cafe at the start of JC2 and I wish I had joined earlier to get my foundations right. However I still benefitted from the lessons a lot and learnt so much. The new centre is at a convenient location for me, near my school. My favourite add-on service is the self-service vending machine as there is a variety of drinks to choose from. I will surely recommend The Physics Cafe to my friends.

Abinaya , CJC

The Physics Cafe provides Secrets Enclosed which is very helpful when studying. It provides the main concepts for us to understand the topic at a glance. This is helpful because, in school’s lecture notes, the content is usually messy and it is difficult to pick out main points. A good thing about physics cafe is the fact that it provides a study area for students with free drinks. This serves as a conducive environment for studying during major exams such as Prelims and A levels.

Tan Xiang Yun , CJC

Mr Sim’s notes and teachings are really easy to understand and learn. 🙂 They build the perfect foundation for your Physics syllabus. All you need is a little effort on your part and the A should be yours. I came to this tuition with a U grade and only 5 months to the A levels. Mr Sim has helped me get an A for physics which is nothing short of a miracle! :p You’d want to have Mr Dave Sim as your Physics tutor, because really, he is an awesome teacher. Not only because of how capable he is, but because he truly has a heart for his students. I wouldn’t have conquered survived Physics without his help. Thank you so much Sir! 😀

Jia Jun , ACJC , Favourite

I really like how the notes are short and concise, its also very convenient to carry around and refer to. It helped me alot when I’m doing physics and didnt have to spend too much time referring to school lecture notes that are lengthy and misleading. Going through popular questions expands my perspective on physics questions, Mr Sim made everything seem easier. The new TPY branch is also really huge and comfortable, I like the vending machine the best! If i were to turn back time, I would join physics cafe earlier and I would definitely recommend you guys to my juniors and friends. Thank you so much for everything! I really appreciate the admin, from making me a cup of hot milo to printing notes on time, thank you for making the whole experience more comfortable, it felt like home. I hope i can do you all proud and reach my goal for physics As. See you all soon!

Megan Heng , CJC

I felt that the Physics Cafe has been instrumental in my progress as I now know how to answer questions correctly and understand several concepts quite quickly. As compared to my school’s normal teaching style, this is more laidback and encourages me to learn more about the topic. I really enjoy how the topics are compartmentalised.

Josiah Michael Maringantua Samosir , CJC

Thank you, Mr Sim, for helping me so much in physics. My grades have improved tremendously and it’s all thanks to your lessons. You are able to explain concepts in a succinct way such that I am able to easily understand and apply them. You have made me more confident in physics while increasing my interest in the subject. I am always grateful for all your effort

Shriya Nangia , CJC

Mr Sim’s notes are straight to the point and serves as a concise form of lecture notes, making it easy to revise for tests and exams. He is very approachable and i wouldn’t hesitate to ask him any physics question in class!

Yun Feng , ACJC

Firstly, the notes provided are extremely convenient, concise and useful. Lessons at the physics cafe are also more interesting and covers topics at a more in-depth level compared to lessons in school. I would recommend my friends to join the physics cafe

Chelsea Tan , CJC

Thank you for making lessons more interesting and I am able to clear my misconceptions more easily! I am now looking forward to learning more about physics and I would definitely recommend The Physics Cafe to my friends!

Ting Sze Yin , CJC

There is training on thinking fast as well as methods on how to tackle certain topics which schools don’t normally teach. It is different from my other tuitions in the sense that I do not have to memorise answers in order to answer certain types of questions. Free drinks and the quality of the lessons is superb. I joined at the start of J1 and yes, I would have joined earlier. I would recommend it to my friends.

Ting Sze Yin , CJC

Mr sim has really helped me tremendously with my physics! Before attending the tuition I was barely keeping up with the lessons in school. But Mr sim has really made physics lessons so much more enjoyable and most importantly easy to understand. It’s really amazing how he can make complicated concepts seems so easy to comprehend, and that we are able to solve all questions with the focused few concepts that he teaches in every topic. I will definitely recommend the physics cafe to all my friends.

Law Hong Yee , ACJC

Lessons at PMC are fairly similar to school lectures, except that a lot more emphasis is placed on answering technique, hence the abundance of practice questions available. This is certainly a lot more in depth than conventional school lectures. The centre is a very conducive environment for studying. I joined PMC in August. If given a choice to do so, I would definitely have joined PMC earlier, so as to better bolster my confidence for maths. I would definitely recommend PMC to my friends, if they ever need additional help regarding mathematics.

Wong Yi Hao , CJC

The problem solving techniques taught are very concise and effective in solving problems as it allows students to logically tackle problem. Lessons in the cafe are much more focused and give room for critical thinking (which is sorely absent in most school lectures) especially with all the grade A questions we have become so obsessed with!

Shaun Tan , ACJC

I really like how we are forced to answer questions when the tutor asks us. In that sense, we cannot slack off at any time. My dream is to get an A for the A level paper for physics this year. I will be working towards it, and I hope my peers do too.

Ong Su-Ann , CJC

Topical mind maps were really useful in remembering the essential formulas and explanation for certain phenomenons. Lesson in The Physics Cafe is more enriching and allows students to have a clearer understanding of the subject through problem solving.

Lee Meiqi , ACJC

The Physics Cafe summaries important parts of the respective topics into small booklets that serve as easy reference whenever we forget concepts or equations for that chapter. I like that the notes are short and easy to understand. I’ve joined the Physics Cafe before J1. I do hope the cohort scores well this time round. I will recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe.

Joshua Tan , CJC

The Physics Cafe is definitely a tuition centre that I would recommend. Apart from going through concepts, Mr Sim also goes through step-by-step methods to solving questions. This is by far the most effective way I have been taught to solve questions on my own because he breaks difficult questions down into very simple ones, making the thought process easier.

Joelle Ho , ACJC

I got a “D” for my A level, not too bad. The lessons are very clear as Mr Sim helps us to gather concepts through the equations needed for each individual topic, there’s class participation from every student and he checks our understanding through the after-class quizzes which we submit the answers using our mobile phones. To my juniors, persevere through and learn because of gaining new knowledge and understanding physics because it is fascinating and not for simply scoring well. And yes! I will recommend my friends to join the physics café

Samantha Ong , CJC

Mr Sim is a wonderful teacher who is able to make a three hour lesson go by in a blink of an eye. His lessons are engaging and interesting, and his explanations are concise and easy to understand. The secrets enclosed compilation is very useful for a quick reference, and gives us some assurance. Stay awesome Mr Sim!

Anchelski Teo , ACJC

Was I self-motivated? Not really at first. I was deeply traumatized by math because lessons in school were too fast and I couldn’t keep up. I ended up neglecting it so much I didn’t pass a single math exam the whole year in J1. In the end, after going through Mr tan’s lessons and going through the fundamentals. I now have enough faith to say that maths is my favourite subject and the only one I can really say I’ll get a good grade for. My parents didn’t force me to attend and I can gladly say if I had the chance I would have joined earlier because the experience here has helped so much in making math easier to understand. To be honest, when I still failed my math prelims last year in the time I joined (around last year June holidays), my results jumped from a single digit to a low forty which is honestly a huge jump. I think that the reason why most students here can score good grades in A level is not only because of their intelligence but also because of all the support they receive as well as the motivation to do well after being finally able to do the questions. If they were like me, the feeling of finally understanding a topic, to finally be able to answer the questions that previously looked like impossible puzzles, it was so satisfying that they naturally get motivated enough to start studying the subject on their own. It’s not just about smart per say, it’s like a combination between smarts and nurtured self-motivation. In my opinion for tuition fees, I feel that it could be cheaper? But the services are well worth the price they helped me out when I was failing and got me to a level where I can confidently say I will do well for my A-levels and I guess that’s what matters at the end of the day.

Ryan Goh , CJC

I’ve always been quite unmotivated to study and practice math questions on my own, which is why I opted to come to PMC. The weekly classes give me ample opportunity to practice and hone my math skills through the selected questions. Going through the question afterwards also helps me to clear any doubts I might have regarding the question. The environment at PMC is surprisingly cosy and conducive, in stark contrast to the other tuition centres I have attended in the past, where the environment can be quite rowdy. As a whole, having the chance to attend classes at PMC has definitely helped me to improve a lot, not only in maths but in my studies as a whole, by instilling in me the discipline and motivation to want to excel.

Wong Yi Hao , CJC

I feel that Physics Cafe is a great place to go to as the teachers go through the questions very detailed and the way they explain concepts are easy to understand. I joined physics cafe around April, but if I knew about this centre before, I would have joined from the start. When I joined PMC, the syllabus was almost completed, so I was lagging as the crash course workshop was very fast paced and only had a brief overview of the topic. I highly recommend physics cafe!!!

Donovan Ang , CJC

I will always recommend my friends to join physics cafe. In fact, I have recommend my friends to join from the beginning of JC1 because I feel that Physics Cafe has helped me maintain decent grades throughout my entire JC life. I like how Mr Sim gives us time and instruct us on how to decorate our notes and make them colourful. This is especially useful for visual learners like me. I also like how he has made the notes very neat and organized. Mr Sim also ensures that everyone stays alert during his lesson by taking turns to answer questions. Although some of the questions might be challenging at first, he will guide us along by prompting us. Only after much prompting and we still cannot get the correct answer, he will then teach us. This is something different from schools or other tuition centers as most would usually just give the answer instead of making the students think harder. In JC1 when topical MCQs were given, I felt that it was effective in ensuring that we understand our basic concepts, especially with the short and comprehensive worked solutions at the back. At the same time, MCQs are not as time consuming as open-ended questions so that has given us time to focus on our other subjects as well. Physics Cafe has also been flexible in the changing of tuition slots. As there are many time slots available, it is easy to reschedule tuition if say a last minute event pops up.

Lynette Ho , ACJC

I joined physics cafe when I was in J1 and I feel I have done relatively okay in school exams. I am also able to cope and understand physics concepts better in school now after attending weekly lessons at Physics Cafe. Sufficient help is provided and extra lessons especially the June Holiday workshop serve as a great platform to secure my foundation before attempting to do harder questions.

Ting Sze Yin , CJC

Lessons in The Physics Café have been indeed effective. It helped me to focus more on what the questions are asking and know what are the points the questions are asking for, thus making it easier and more efficient for me to answer the questions. Physics cafe will also pick out certain difficult questions for us to try and make it a point to break down the question so that answering questions will be more systematic. Also skills taught in answering questions were useful and helps in both saving time and getting the mark. Lessons in school did not taught us how to anwers questions to allow us to obtain the maximum mark.

Liu Weiting , ACJC

The notes are both concise and informative…win-win situation! Lessons in the physics cafe are more engaging, and all sorts of potential questions or misconceptions, whether big or small, has been answered by the tutor beforehand, making exams much easier to handle! With clarification on all these little details, students like myself have been able to truly understand the concepts behind the physics topics, and also appreciate them in a new way. And yes i would recommend my friends to join the physics café

Ng Wan Mai , ACJC

Hi Mr Sim. All of your classes are effective and i learned how to accurately answer questions from you so yeah of course i’ll recommend my friends to join. I think your approach of asking everyone questions is useful since it keeps everyone engaged. To me, i find it funny when i cannot answer your questions because my attempts are super nonsense. But it helps me to remember better. Your sense of humour is quite good too! so lessons are fun even if they are 3 hours long. Thanks for everything! Oh and the secrets enclosed is very useful.

Tay Qing Yuan , ACJC

The Physics Cafe has really helped me a lot on improving my physics. Mr Sim is a really experienced physics teacher who is able to help and inspire many students to give their best in physics. His physics notes are very good as he is able to deliver the main concepts in a very clear and concise way which has aided a lot in my learning. I will definitely recommend my friends to join the Physics Cafe. Thank you very much Mr Sim!

Suresh Babu Pragadeesh , ACJC

The physics cafe has helped me so much in grasping concepts in physics. In school lectures, teachers tend to cover a lot of content in a short period of time, perpetually leaving me confused and less motivated because physics would seem like such a difficult subject. At tuition, concepts are very succinctly organized to aid answering of questions to enable us to understand what the questions are asking for. Initially I was very involved in my CCA and never had much time to study because I was always so drained from school. When my work lagged behind, I was unmotivated especially since the content was so difficult to grasp. With Mr Sim’s help, I was better able to appreciate physics and started catching up with my work a lot faster than I thought. In addition to helping me academically, Mr Sim is a very encouraging teacher. Despite having so many classes a week, he still makes sure to open up more time to talk to us to ensure that his students are coping well with stress and school related problems. It is very reassuring when teachers make an effort to do so and definitely helps me to regain some motivation and drive for the A levels.

Camellia , ACJC

Hi MDS, your exam techniques are legendary, and definitely the best kind of help I have ever received, and i believe it is my part that has not been executed as diligently as desired to get that A. The two hours here are more productive than 5 hours anywhere. Mr Sim is student oriented and really knows how to capture our attention without needing to be naggy or annoying like most school teachers. His unceasing enthusiasm wakes us up in class and makes everything interesting. I will without a doubt recommend my friends to join Physics Cafe, especially since my circle of friends are willing to invest in education.

Charmian Lee Jia Min , ACJC

Everything has become so much easier ever since I joined TPC. Mr Sim is able to explain all physics concepts very well such that we are able to understand them very quickly. The 2 hours are well spent every lesson.

Uditi Bareja , ACJC

I achieved an A for physics and was very satisfied with my score. Even though I was aiming for that score, actually receiving it first handedly really made me feel quite accomplished. Joining this tuition centre enabled me to clear my doubts on the fundamental concepts and build up my knowledge on the subject through easy-to-read and compressed notes. Mr Sim taught me how to use a step-by-step way of answering common and challenging questions which my school may not have prepared its students for. In class, he will time us to complete a set of questions, which I feel helped me gauge my time better during the actual exam and answer questions well at the same time. Outside of class, he gave more than sufficient practices with worked solutions, making me constantly practice and not forget the important physics concepts. This also allowed each student to do the given work at their own pace, fully understanding each topic before moving on to the next. Overall, it was nice to know that my efforts paid off and I will definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe!)

Joanna Tan , ACJC

Mr Sim has made a big difference when it comes to studying for my Physics A Level paper. I only joined in J2 but I managed to see a stark contrast in terms of how I studied for Physics before and after joining. The lessons are very useful in teaching me how to answer questions according to what the examiner wants because Mr Sim teaches using examples and not lecture-note style. In addition, he understands the common pitfalls in students’ way of understanding a particular concept and why they would think in that manner. By addressing them, he helps us to fully understand the topic such that we can answer the questions confidently during exams. Also, he does not only go through the solution but the entire thought process when answering different types of questions. This ensures that when it comes to exam time, even if we haven’t seen the question before, we still have a very good chance of deriving the correct answer.

Joelle Ho , ACJC

I started going for tuition not because I do not understand the topic, but I need help in tackling the questions. Information can be found from textbooks and lecture notes, but solving questions in an entirely different thing. The physics cafe helped me to understand the topic even better and apply the knowledge to answer exam questions. Mr Sim has helped me to become more confident in the subject and my physics have improved significantly after joining Physics Maths Cafe. I can’t fall asleep during tuition because every moment is a filled moment, every minute and second is maximised for teaching and learning, no time for slacking or an eye shut or to daydream unlike in school. I will definitely recommend to my friends.

Esther Gay , ACJC

The June Workshop really helped me consolidate all my learning throughout the year and a half. It has strengthen and reinforced old concepts as well as helped me understand the new concepts faster and better. The skills learnt has helped me a lot in my revision not only for physics but the other subjects as well. After the workshop, i feel more confident to tackle questions and most importantly made me feel more reassured that I am capable of an A in the A levels Physics Paper.

Cleona , ACJC

The Physics Cafe has really helped me to understand seemingly difficult topics in physics with much ease and has greatly boosted my confidence in physics as compared to the time before joining. The lessons are much more concise and is very effective in helping me understand the topic, much more in 1 or 2 lessons than what the school lectures can cover over 3 or 4. I would strongly recommend my friends to join The Physics Maths Cafe as it is honestly one of the best tuition centers around that can help you understand physics topics with much more ease than you can imagine.

Ong Eden , ACJC

The physics cafe provides very short and sweet summary notes for every chapter that makes it easy to refer to when solving questions. Through attending lessons, I feel my concepts strengthening each lesson and the standard structure of what is taught makes it hard for one to go wrong. I have indeed become more confident of my physics since joining the physics cafe. Unlike school, the physics cafe is very clear about what they are teaching and make no deviation from what taught in the first place. Difficult questions seem very easy with simple thought processes in lessons here, while it takes quite some time for teachers in school to get answers. I would strongly recommend anyone who needs help in physics to join the physics cafe.

Bernice Wan , ACJC

My foundation and understanding of physics really increased tremendously from the short 2 months since i have joined, especially during Physics Maths Café Signature June workshop as it helped to clear many of my J1 topics concepts. TPC provides more than enough questions to help me grasp the physics concept better and Mr Sim’s explanations were all very thorough, clear and concise. I especially like how he covers what really is important to help us score by highlighting and repeating the main points several times. For my school, I feel that they sometimes skim through the content and place more focus on things that are not very relevant and the explanation can get quite confusing. I would definitely recommend others to join TPC 🙂

Yeo Jia Li , ACJC

Physics cafe has allowed us a better understanding of the syllabus within the shortest time possible. It has shortened the time I require to spend revising each topic. It has indeed been a challenging journey, from learning how to answer basic questions to grade A questions. Even though it has been challenging, Mr Sim has always taught the lesson with a cheerful attitude, making jokes along the way and making us laugh. I hope that these last few weeks of lessons will truly be fruitful and that I will be able to obtain the grade I hope for.

Marcus Wong , ACJC

I would recommend my friends to join the physics cafe 🙂 even though it takes me an hour to get there and back every week, I really feel that it has helped me tremendously in my physics!

Kathlyn Lee , ACJC

Personally, Physics Cafe has been a great help in my understanding of Physics. Mr Sim have always used simple but specific examples to bring across key concepts to us, and these concepts are etched into me such that it makes revision a breeze. I cannot imagine myself getting the consistent good results in school without his guidance. Physics Cafe has allowed me to be ahead of my class at all times, a lesson a week is sufficient if one is attentive throughout it. I would definitely recommend my juniors or others in need of help in physics to join Physics Cafe. Thank you for the effort you have put in for us Mr Sim.

Chen Yi Jun , ACJC

Lessons are very well structured and every minute of class is put into good use. The notes are fantastic!! Mr Sim is very thorough and patient in explaining concepts. Also what i really like about Mr Sim is that he knows what we feel as students. I will recommend everyone to join physics cafe if they need help in physics!

Cleona , ACJC

I will definitely recommend the PMC to my friends as it’s a one of kind tuition centre that puts a personal touch into what they teach. You’ll be able to learn what you’ll dread learning in the most personal and anecdotal approach possible, which is going to be change the way you see your syllabus for the better! The classes are effective in the sense that the syllabus content has been perfectly captured into just the 2 hours of listening and thinking. The pedagogy behind such ways of teaching is just simply timeless.

Ethan Chia Cheng Wai , ACJC

The physics cafe is already very well-known especially amongst my peers in school. In JC1 before I had joined the physics cafe, I never had any tutoring and was somewhat struggling to understand the concepts taught. I managed to scrap through my promotional exams but I knew passing was not enough. In the beginning of JC2, I decided to enrol in the physics cafe with one of my classmates. What awaited me was something completely unique and different. In the physics cafe, they do not just teach; they teach with understanding. They teach you how to manage your time well, and teach you critical thinking skills. It’s a holistic experience where you feel at ease too. My tutors Mr sim and Mr tan have been patient with me and they’re quite funny hehehe 🙂 While sometimes I’m slow at understanding, the tutors make sure to leave no one behind. Ever since, I feel more confident tackling my exam papers. The Centre is really cosy and conducive for self-study. In the end, joining the physics cafe wont only improve your grades, it will develop your interest and understanding in the subject, which is the most important thing if you want to remain positive in JC! I never regret my decision to join and I had an extremely fulfilling experience there!

Janice , ACJC

I joined PMC during the holiday programme in June for the crash course. I was initially getting borderline passes meaning E and even at the brink of S. However, after tuition at PMC, I became more confident in physics as I learned the concepts more effectively and the various answering techniques. I improved and got D for promos. My parents are delighted and encourage me to improve further using the help of PMC. Overall, I’ll recommend PMC to my friends because the lessons are effective. I wish I had joined earlier in the year though.

Samantha Seet , ACJC

Lessons in PMC helped me to understand concepts more in depth and clearly compared to school. Helped me to apply my concepts. We are also exposed to different types of questions. The student councillors are very patient with new students and we get free drinks!! I joined after term exams in July. And yes, I should have joined earlier so that I can be ahead of my class. I would recommend it to my friends!

Jane Shirley , ACJC

The lessons are the best I’ve ever had. I didn’t really like physics although I had to take the subject, but the lessons here are definitely the most engaging, clear and concise with the key concepts. The tutors are sharp and well able to deliver the important points across well. They would deliberately take time to re-emphasize and constantly repeat these key concepts throughout a lesson and with a summary at the start of the next lesson to recap previously learnt key points. I admire how organised they are and their care for the students (shout out to Mr Daniel Kwok). Thanks to PMC, I really don’t struggle through lectures and tutorials in class anymore. I am grateful for the tutors here in helping me achieve a high percentile in school (ACJC 96% percentile) given that I got an A2 for O levels last year. They have done a great job and I have encouraged my classmates to join. Thank you for being amazing and keep it up!

Tristan Chua , ACJC

The Physics Cafe really puts a lot of effort into providing clear and concise notes which really helps in strengthening your concepts and enables you to tackle questions more readily. This has really helped me to gain confidence and reignite my interest in physics. Thanks, Mr Sim for always being so patient with all of us! Also, they take into account the welfare of their students and this makes studying there a lot better. I would definitely recommend The Physics Cafe to those who require a boost in physics:-)

Shirley Lim , ACJC

I struggled a lot with physics in J1 and I really hated it. But after joining The Physics Cafe, I improved a lot. I had a much better understanding of the concepts and I could do questions easily and this is all thanks to Mr Sim’s teaching skills. The way he simplifies and breaks things down to the essentials makes it a lot easier to grasp. The quality of lessons here is a lot better than those in other tuition centres and I wish I had joined earlier in J1. I recommended this place to my friend and she has also improved a lot too! P.S I love the vending machine

Rachel chow , ACJC

Physics cafe makes concepts so much easier to understand because the tutor breaks down and dissects the different parts of a chapter, explaining them very simply and in a straightforward manner (eg quantum 1,2,3). Unlike school lectures and tutorials where it’s all over the place most of the times. I really like the online resources, free drinks, councillors, conducive environment (tables, chairs, aircon etc) and tutor(s). I joined in J1 before June holidays (Forces). Physics is the only subject I am most ready for honestly. I would have joined right from the start if possible. I have recommended almost all my friends from my school/other JCs who take H2 physics to join the physics cafe as I have seen tremendous improvement in my results and true enlightenment of what I am learning.

Jolene Pek , ACJC

PMC has been a great lifesaver for me in maths. I remember coming in here contemplating whether I made the right choice because of the fees structure (one shot $1k+) so it’s taking a huge risk. However, I was proved wrong as the quality of teaching as well as the materials given were worth the amount I paid, not only informative but also helpful in helping me to grasp the concepts easily. My grades been consistent at high B, which indicates how my grades are obtained not by luck but by consistent practice and good foundation which is all thanks to PMC. thank you 🙂

Gan Kah Ee , ACJC

I joined Physics cafe workshop in June when I was J1 and thought that their lessons were effective and made me understand the important concepts for each topic in a short period of time. I could do more questions and understand what I’m doing instead of blindly applying the formulas and hoping to get the right answers. I decided to join Physics cafe’s regular lessons in J2 and I’m glad I chose Physics cafe and not any other tuition centre. The materials given by PMC are useful and the notes are concise compared to school notes. I always read them before my exams, the notes have all the formulas I need to know for each topic and there is a list of definitions at the end too. The regular lessons cover important concepts for each topic in a short period of time and they give us challenging questions to do during lessons for each topic timed and thanks to that, I take shorter time to complete my MCQs than I did last year. They also teach a lot of shortcuts and faster ways to approach each question since A levels are more about how well you manage your time rather than your knowledge. The teachers in Physics cafe are really nice. When you don’t understand something during the lesson, they take the time to revisit certain concepts to make it easier for us to understand. They also cover common misconceptions students have when doing questions and advise us on how to avoid them when we are feeling panicked during exams. They also teach us several methods to approach each question so that we can choose the method that is easier for us to understand. Hot chocolate in Physics cafe is amazing also. You must try it at least once if you ever join Physics cafe. I highly encourage anyone struggling with H2 physics to join Physics cafe if they can afford it 🙂

Sruthi Saravanan , ACJC

I only joined The Physics Cafe after my midyear examinations, where I did very badly. After joining for around a month, I saw my physics grade jump from an E to a C, in such a short period of time. I like how the notes provided are clear and make the topic much easier to understand. Mr Sim is also a very good teacher, who explains each topic very clearly. Even though tuition fees are not cheap, it is worth it as the classes really helped me to improve my understanding of the subject in a very short period, and I would have joined earlier if I had known about this earlier.

Wesley Wee , ACJC

I like how in lessons; the teachers go through the topic from the start again to refresh our memory of the topic. I feel PMC has been able to produce such high distinction rate because of the skills they teach, and also the fact that the students are able to pick up and apply the skills quickly.

Samantha Seet , ACJC

Very organised- Each topic is carefully segregated into the different concepts and explained very throughly with the many types of qns that can possibly come up in an exam. I like the tecnhiques you taught us such as the step-by-step procedure. It’s very helpful in solving qns.

This is kai chen from 2S03D. After looking at this site, i must say i am really filled with respect for u man. Not many people are so committed, to the extent of ddoing things the way u are doing now just for the benefit of the student body. You were great then, and u are even better now. =) so please continue to do your best k sir!

Hi Mr Sim!

This is Yunyan!(or Ms Sang???:)After a while it gets weird to call myself Ms Sang in front of you.But it’s fond memory^_^) I’m writing to tell you that I have been accepted by Yale University. Thank you again for the one year of teaching, the recommendation letter that you wrote for me and all the help you have offered to me! I’m really grateful and hopefully I can come back to Singapore some time to thank you personally!:)Right now I’m in China enjoying the long holiday!

Yunyan , RI(JC)

Mr Sim is an extremely excellent tutor! He is able to explain complicated concepts in such a simple yet concise manner that it is very easy to understand. Physics used to be a subject that I dread studying for but after joing this physics tuition, I feel excited to do Physics and am definitely more motivated to work hard to achieve good grades. I even look forward to every tuition because I know that at the end of the 2hr session, I would have learnt alot of things and be more confident in this subject. Sometimes it feels like “enlightenment”. The mindmap Mr Sim went through with us is the best thing a Physics student could ever ask for! It is definitely a tremendous help in my revision. Thank You very much Mr Sim!

Ho Yu Tian , AJC

Mr Sim is an amazing teacher who knows how to explain even the most complicated concepts in a very simple manner to his students. The logical problem solving methods are easy to grasp and apply during the exams. I had almost given up on my physics before coming to Physics Cafe. But only after a few lessons, I managed to gain confidence and the necessary skills to do well for my exams. Also, Mr Sim’s concise notes are more than enough for any student to revise just before his exams and ace the paper! The Physics Cafe is truly my grade saver, and I hope with hardwork and Mr Sim’s guidance, it will be yours too! (:

Chandini Manoharan , AJC

I am Linlin. Hope that you are enjoying your teaching in RJC. I am currently in California Institute of Technology. I think I will either become a EE or MecE. I always enjoyed your teaching a lot. I wish I could be visit RJC again!

Lin Lin , RI(JC)

Lessons in physics cafe are more concise and teaches us the important concepts needed for exams in a direct way, unlike in schools where lectures can be boring and draggy :/ students struggling in physics should join mr sim’s class as you will really improve your grades! 🙂

Tiffany , AJC

Hello Mr Sim!

I dont know if you still remember me but I am really glad to be taught by you because you make physics “easy”. Thanks for being a really dedicated teacher! I got an A in physics for my A levels (it was totally unexpected) . I believe that it is extremely crucial to practise and practise because there are really a lot of standard questions in the exams.

Ya Ling , RI(JC)

Mr Dave Sim teaches in a very fun, engaging and inspiring way. I will somehow feel the strong urge and passion for learning during and after his lessons. Wonder if others do feel that way too.!

Low Yong Han , AJC

Hello Mr Sim,

Long time no see! I went to your website and it looks great! You are a really dedicated teacher! Hope everything is doing great there! I miss RJ so much!

Have fun teaching.

Siang Ee , RI(JC)

The best tuition centre I’ve ever joined 😀 Mr Sim helped me to understand Physics much, much better, and the grades kind of speak for themselves. During my ‘O’ Levels I managed a A2 for my Physics out of pure memorization of questions, and I didn’t get it at all.Definitely didn’t help in JC! I am extremely thankful that I got to know Mr Sim. He’s clear and enthusiastic in his teaching and explains it in more simplistic ways to aid understanding. He helped me to improve my understanding of Physics, and also helped me enjoy studying it much more. I would recommend all my friends who need help in Physics and don’t like it to join 😀 Hahaha, because Mr Sim is just that awesome.YAY PHYSICS CAFE FREE DRINKS FREE BISCUITS(^^)

Just wanted to say thanks you for being such a dedicated physics/civics tutor and council teacher 🙂 I believe the whole ccad can attest to your enthusiasm for all ccad-related stuff, and I think many of us in 6H (including myself) would be very very lost as to some of the physics topics are about if it werent for your notes and explanations in class. Yup thanks for not giving up on us (especially last year when we werent really doing our tutorials etc) and for always encouraging us to do our best for stuff 🙂

Charlotte , RI(JC)

Dedicated teacher who jolts and awaken students. Lots of quality questions done in class and definitely appreciate the effort Mr Sim

Vernon , AJC

Mr Sim has been a very dedicated teacher as seen from his patience in class. He is always ready to clear our doubts even if it means explaining again. He is also approachable and humorous in his lessons. His step-by-step approach breaks down complicated physics concepts, making it easier for me to comprehend and digest. The notes and answer keys he provided also aided in my learning greatly as they are concise and clear.

Wanxi , RI(JC)

The Cafe is very successful in providing detailed notes on every topic that are easy to understand. Also given the practice and training in class, it is very assuring personally. I do not think I am wasting my time going for tuition, in fact the time I spent there to cover that range of concepts, I would have spent much more time on my own. The Cafe ensures that concepts and techniques are easily understood. Students from The Physics Cafe will have a better understanding of concepts, compared to their peers. I am sure we will do well.

Gurnihal Singh , AJC

Mr. Sim is always able to explain the concepts thoroughly, patiently and clearly to the benefit of the whole class. His simple and direct procedures towards the concepts enable us to grasp them quickly and remember them. His notes are concise and easy to understand, making them efficient resources especially as there are so many topics to cover.

Juan , RI(JC)

The tutor teaches us step by step and we have the chance to do grade a questions. The summary map is very comprehensive and convenient to study.

L V Sree Bagvath , AJC

Mr. Sim has definitely been a tremendous help to me in my understanding of Physics! I have become extremely confident in what I am doing and I almost always can explain properly to my friends whenever they ask me physics questions! I would definitely say that Mr. Sim was very successful in teaching the exam answering techniques but even better is the fact that he made Physics look so easy ! Indeed, I will never believe something so difficult can be so easy until I joined the Physics Cafe. I think what sets Mr Sim apart from other Physics teachers is that he is very adept at teaching us the concepts behind each Physics topic and I think the most amazing thing is that he can somehow make Physics so fun and alive at the same time. Anyone can always see his enthusiasm as he teaches Physics! In my opinion, I think Mr Sim is very genuine and he always has his students’ welfare at heart. He has been very motivating throughout my journey at the Physics Cafe and I know he will continue to inspire even more students. Learning Physics has never been so enjoyable before and I would definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe (as I already have)! I would never settle for less than an A for Physics at the A levels and will definitely do Mr. Sim proud! Finally, many thanks for Mr. Sim’s patience and guidance throughout. My time at Physics Cafe was truly memorable and enriching!

Mr Dave Sim is a very responsible physics tutor. Besides lecture notes, he has also prepared his own notes for all the chapters which are more comprehensive and knowledgeable. His teaching is very interesting and can be easily understood by everyone. His students like to discuss questions with him in class and even during lunch time.

Lupeng , RI(JC)

Mr Sim is a vastly experienced teacher who is able to express his thought process to the students clearly. The little book of secrets is a concise and thorough guidebook that had been a great help for me especially just before the exams.

Eric Lim , AJC

Mr Sim is a dedicated and meticulous teacher who has the welfare of his students at heart. He is a caring and approachable teacher, whose sense of humour has made him more of a friend to his students.

Jiaqi , RI(JC)

Physics Cafe has been very successful in helping me answer any type of question, be it easy or challenging. However hard the questions may be, Mr Sim always breaks down the question until it is possible for anyone to solve any type of question. Before I joined The Physics Cafe, I have been constantly failing Physics and I struggled to understand any concepts. Needless to say, Physics was my most dreaded subject. After having joined The Physics Cafe, my improvement was so sudden and I passed my first ever Physics test. From then on, I have never failed Physics and was performing better than many students in my class. All these would not have been possible if not for Mr Sim who is so gifted in explaining concepts so clearly that anyone can understand the content without having the need to look back at their lecture notes. Lessons at The Physics Cafe are very unique with a cozy learning environment and many opportunities to answer questions. I believe students from The Physics Cafe will have a better grasp of concepts and confidence when tackling Physics problems, having been through rigorous training by Mr Sim. I am certain that the 2014 JC2 cohort of Physics Cafe will do well this year. I will certainly recommend my friends to join The Physics Cafe and I wish The Physics Cafe all the best in the future. Thank you very much, Mr Sim!

Hi Mr Sim,

Your physics tutorials are very useful, so useful that I don’t bother to pay attention in lectures. Haha. You stress concepts with much clarity in an easily understood way, and some of the tips you gave are very useful in exams. ^^ Many of my friends and I feel you’re the best physics teachers in RJC!

Gao Fan , RI(JC)

The Physics Cafe has concise and organized notes that are completely different from lecture notes in schools which are chunky and overlooks main points. I think with these notes students will know what they have to know within the shortest time possible. Since they are eventually preparing for the exam, it’s better to learn faster and learn more. In schools lectures are not as efficient as tuition and the physics concept is not delivered clearly unlike The Physics Cafe. I would recommend TPC to my peers.

Jessie Lau , AJC

Hi Sir,

Really hope that you’ve had a fun holiday in December (without 6E). All the best for 2007 and hope you have fun with kids in your new civics class^_^Just a few days ago I heard from Cambridge that they gave me a conditional offer(3 As, no S paper) to study at Magdalene College . I know better than anybody else that without the life-saving As in Physics I could never have made it. Thank you for all the interesting lessons that salvaged my remaining interest in Physics^_^ Last thing – if you ever come to China, muz come and find us! Linlin and me will be so happy to see you in Suzhou!

Gao Fan , RI(JC)

The Physics Cafe really did a great job in teaching and guiding students to solve all kinds of physics problems including basic ones and Grade A questions. I still remember that before Mid Year common test, I travelled overseas to visit some of my relatives. I did not revise physics at all. However, with the help of The Physics Cafe, I still managed to get 85 percentile in my school. I do recommend all my closest friend to join The Physics Cafe. I believe that Physics Cafe would never let people down.

Wang Fangyuan , AJC

Hi Sir,

It has been such a great joy having you as a physics tutor. I can frankly say, I have never had as much fun in class as I had during physics. All your jokes (whether they were funny or not :P) just made the class atmosphere so much more relaxed and every lesson was such a joy to be a part of. Your whole teaching style and ability to interact with and reach out to us students is just phenomenal, and you have taught us how fun and extremely enjoyable studying may be. Your templates and approaches have also made studying physics so much easier for us, and you have taught us how it is not too difficult to understand this subject after all. The great amount of time you have put into creating notes for us students and helping us in every way possible has been so heart warming to see, and I am sure everyone will agree with me in thanking you for all your effort and be eternally grateful to you. There are only a few teachers who create such an impact with their extreme passion to teach and their great concern for their students’ well being. You are definitely one of them. Your tolerance in aiding those who were not able to catch the concepts so fast, and your ability to make the class more enjoyable yet maintain the learning environment is something I will never forget, and will most certainly try to learn. And once again, thank you very much for being such a passionate, student-concerned, thoughtful, and just absolutely great teacher. =) enjoy your holss!

“You’ll never believe something so difficult can be so easy.” Its really true though :-). Even though i only joined the physics cafe in june, it has been a very meaningful and productive session and i’ve learnt much much more. I would definitely recommend my friends to join.

Brenda Fong , AJC

Throughout my journey in Physics Cafe, I have become much more confident in the subject as I am now aware of the approach I should take towards different questions instead of just thinking randomly for a solution. What makes Physics Cafe stand out from normal lessons is how it helps to condense every topic into 2 pages such that it is sufficient for you to understand the topic clearly. With the addition on challenging questions, we are further aware of how the concepts of a topic are applied in the question and the way to go about answering it. The Physics Cafe is definitely the right choice for students who are keen to ace their Physics exams.

Ng Qing Hao , AJC

Mr Sim is respectable, responsible and enthusiastic physics teacher. He teaches us with extreme patience and this can be reflected when he explains to us the physics concept again and again until all of us understand. While repeating the concept, he never makes me bored as he explains it in different ways and sometimes teaches us through games. He really enjoys teaching, not only regards it as a job. He tries his best to prepare us for all the exams and tests and but never fails to encourage us even when we do not do well. No matter what kind of students we, most of us are moved and motivated by his passion for physics and teaching.

In facilitating our understanding, he prepares overviews which summarize all the key physics concepts for us. This is actually very useful for us in preparing for the exams. It is concise and whole-rounded. By learning by the key concepts, it is easier for us to remember all the important things.

Yao Hua , Favourite , RI(JC)

Mr Sim’s popular physics notes are concise and comprehensive. He never fails to break down a chapter into different key concepts and ideas, making it easier for us to understand. Even a particularly difficult chapter will seem manageable and much less intimidating. He would even classify questions into different types where you would use the same type of calculations for. This simplifies things and makes it easier to tackle questions in an exam. I particularly like his idea of using a “SOP” to solve physics questions.

Soo Lin , Favourite , RI(JC)

I am very thankful and glad that I have joined The Physics Cafe since J1. Without the guidance I received from Mr Sim, I would probably feel very demoralised about Physics as a subject and wouldn’t do as well in school. The Physics Cafe has definitely made me more confident in tackling physics questions and the skills picked up have been indeed very valuable to me. What I am going to say next is probably going to be quite extreme but sometimes I think that I can just forgo school lectures and just attend The Physics Cafe’s lessons. I have never regretted joining The Physics Cafe and I am very grateful to Mr Sim and the team behind the tuition centre for their hard work and dedication. Thank you 🙂

Mr Sim is a very dedicated physics teacher with an unique approach to teaching Physics, geared towards ensuring that his students understand difficult Physics concepts and score well for Physics. Right from the first lesson, he has given us the broad strategy for tackling exams questions as well as tips to learn Physics well. In the summarised physics notes that he types for his students, he is able to encapsulate the essence of each topic amidst succinct yet comprehensive explanation of concepts. In addition, whenever appropriate, he provides derivations to make his students’ learning more complete. That said, it should be noted that he does not ‘spoon-feed’ his students, because he constantly reminds them to write their own notes based on their understanding of each topic. Furthermore, in his classroom and lecture teaching, he goes the extra mile to find or create suitable applets and animations to aid students’ understanding in physics concepts, which goes to show his commitment to teaching. All in all, Mr Sim has been an excellent physics teacher with the ability to inspire and motivate..

Charlotte , RI(JC)

The Physics Cafe has a very systematic and well-structured teaching method and materials which greatly aid students while doing their revision. It not only prepares us for our exams but also helps us understand the various topics. Mr Sim is an amazing tutor whouses creative methods and tips that further enable us to tackle tougher questions, which is usually what is not covered in school. Under the guidance of Mr Sim, I have become more confident in facing difficult questions. I will definitely recommend my friends to join The Physics Maths Cafe.

Aathira , AJC

Mr Sim is able to present important, and sometimes very complicated, physics concepts to students in a very comprehensible way. His notes summarizing the key understandings of each chapter are especially useful, as they are concise and accurate. In addition, he delivers his lessons with much clarity, and even injects elements of humour and allows us students to digest information taught easily.

Sherie , RI(JC)

I was consistently failing Physics in J1 despite putting the most amount of effort into it for my promos. It was still my worst done subject. I just didn’t know my concepts well enough and didn’t know how to approach questions. Until my senior introduced me to The Physics Cafe, and it was quite a life saver. My grades jumped to a C in lecture tests and I had a lot more confidence in physics now even being able to help my friends in school. I think what makes TPC different from school is that Physics Maths Cafe new concepts and topics are built upon layers of what was taught previously. Being able to link them helps us remember and understand them clearer as oppose to school’s method or teaching topics on its own. Also the technique that TPC uses to help you answer questions are all very systematic which is a universal skill that can be applied throughout all types of questions making it much easier for you to answers questions from other topics. All of these factors made me very thankful and grateful for joining TPC.

Nicole Low , AJC

Physics lessons in the Cafe has helped me tremendously in my physics throughout the past 2 years and I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey with TPC especially since physics seemed quite absurd to me in J1 before joining the tuition. Surprisingly, I’ve looked forward to every tuition as Mr Sim makes lessons very productive yet fun. Despite living quite far away from the TPC centre I go to, I’ve never felt like the travel time was time wasted because I probably learn more in the 2 hours then if I had to learn physics all by myself. Mr Sim is one of the best tuition teachers I’ve gotten and despite the large class size, he manages and provides attention and concern to all (and sends very encouraging emails from time to time). Very thankful to have found TPC! Thank you Mr Sim!

Akshatha , AJC

I feel that the physics notes you gave to us is superb, so much so that many from other classes have asked for it too. The summarised physics notes are concise and to-the-point, cutting short all the ‘long stories’ in the lecture notes. It is easily comprehensible and very systematic, making it very clear for the reader to know exactly what is going on. (On a side note, I feel that you should publish a A-level physics book compiling all your notes as I believe they will be in hot demand and will likely provide relief and soothe the anxiety of many other potential physics students in the years to come.) All in all, I feel that you are one of the best physics teachers I have encountered so far, as you genuinely cared for us and have tried to stimulate our interest in the subject. Without you, I guess my physics concepts will still be muzzled up. You helped to clarify and clear all the misconceptions that I previously had. I would like to sincerely thank you for being such a dedicated teacher. Thank you Mr Sim!

Even though I’ve only been with the Physics Cafe for a short period of time, it has helped me gain interest in a subject that I wasn’t very interested in at the start. I would highly recommend my juniors to join the physics cafe in the future!:) The Physics Cafe has certainly got my interest back on physics. Before i joined the Physics Cafe, I never once passed a single Physics paper and that has made me lose interest in that subject. However, after joining the Physics Cafe, I have come to realise how fun and amazing Physics can be! Thanks to Mr Sim, he was able to provide deep and concise explanations for students to better understand key important Physics concepts.

Toh Zhao Zheng , AJC

Mr. Sim is an earnest teacher who sincerely wants to help his students achieve better grades and understand physics better. He is able to clearly articulate and explain physics concepts that are often complicated and abstract. This had made learning physics in his class enjoyable, and made the study of physics less daunting. Also, his notes are systematic and well-planned, and deliver the few important concepts that one needs to know for a particular topic in a clear and concise format.

Xinni , RI(JC)

The Physics Cafe has given me, by far, the best tuition experience I’ve ever had. Mr Sim is able to understand and empathise with students’ struggles and help us accordingly. He is patient and is always willing to answer any of our doubts. His teaching capabilities are simply put.. superior. He has the knack for explaining concepts in a way that anyone can understand by making it relatable. He draws links from chapter to chapter whilst going into the crux of every topic, allowing us to see the Physics syllabus from both macroscopic and microscopic views. In secondary school, Physics was always my most hated subject. I disliked how there seemed to be so many hidden elements to a single concept, and that none of my teachers could offer me reasonable explanations as to how things really worked. So yes, I memorised my way through ‘O’ Levels. Not fun. Boring. But I remembered being mindblown after my first lesson with the Physics Cafe. Gone were the “Don’t ask so much, just answer like this” days. Mr Sim ensures that every possible lingering question any student has is answered. From then on, I started gaining confidence and interest in the subject. May I also say that the Physics Cafe has the best staff ever. And honestly, their planning skills are superb. You can always trust them when you need help. They take care of your welfare so well you’ll start to wonder what else they can come up with. From shuttle buses home, free food, free coloured pens, to even a gigantic vending machine.. I have no idea. Hands down the best. Just enrol. Right now.
